Investigators say postal carrier who was shot had been delivering drugs on his route

shotLOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Significant new details have been released in the case of a Louisville postal carrier shot while delivering the mail. Investigators say they think it happened because he kept drugs he said he was going to deliver on his route.

Court documents that have been unsealed in this case show that Marcus Bennett, the brother of the alleged shooter Eric Bennett, is facing charges as well.

A U.S. Postal Inspector says tips started coming in the day after Da’Ron Lester was shot on Dearborn Avenue earlier this month. At least two people say Lester delivered packages containing illegal drugs on his route, and that he failed to make a recent delivery. One caller told inspectors Marcus Bennett was supposed to get a package containing drugs the day of the shooting but instead Lester kept it.

  1. The news has reported that that the CCA carrier has be convicted of drug violations in the past. How could the Postal Service hire an ex con? Our brilliant Federal government has contracted out the search process of potential employees. OPM has given out the task of looking over new employees to bidders. A man in VA. just won a whistle blower law suit against the firm he worked for. He charged the firm didn’t do the research as required! You get what you pay for.

  2. Well, there goes my sympathy. This kind of stuff happens fairly regularly, and I must admit sometimes I wonder why we aren’t randomly drug tested, although in the spirit of being innocent until proven guilty you don’t want to give management any more excuses to harass the shit out of us, and we all know how a little authority goes crazy for too many of them.
But damn, can’t a carrier wait and do his dealing on his own time? I don’t think any carrier oughta be a drug dealer or abuser, don’t misunderstand, but when they do this crap in uniform on the clock it makes us look bad. If you want to be a skank and druggie do it on your own time. As any carrier can tell you who’s been at it for any length of time, drug abuse, domestic violence, etc. is much more rampant and prevalent than most people realize. For every bust or item in the paper or on TV, there’s probably 100 others getting away with it.
I am 55 and in my party days so long ago, we could have a great time with a little beer and pot, so even as I have been clean and sober for thirty years, I cannot understand why anybody would even remotely consider using meth. We would have thought you were fuck nuts insane if you tried something like that! Maybe those who do are insane, or insanely stupid. They’ll pay dearly for it in due time as their nervous systems collapse and organs fail.

    • It does not state knowingly delivered drugs. As a postal worker do you know what is in each package that you deliver? Maybe a few packages made it through the postal system and the last one didn’t and that’s why it was assumed that it was stolen by the postal worker. That does not mean he knew what it was. Honestly, if the postal worker was dealing drugs on this route then why isn’t he in jail? Maybe because the media has it wrong and they are just trying to make headlines……think about it.
