A Vietnam vet hurt his leg in a helicopter crash while in combat. The injury has stayed with him decades later, and qualifies him for handicapped parking.
Wednesday, Bobby Crees was trying to get to a chiropractor appointment. When he got to the strip mall at Stetson Hills and Powers in Colorado Springs, someone had already taken the handicap parking spot. But it wasn’t a person who needed it–it was a postal worker picking up mail at The UPS Store.
Crees said he tried to talk to the driver, who blew him off.
“I asked him if he always parked in handicapped spots, and he just mumbled something that I couldn’t understand and threw something in the back of his truck and went back into the UPS store,” Crees said.
Employees at The UPS Store told 11 News the postal worker usually parks in a loading spot, but that on Wednesday it was already taken when the mailman showed up.
Mailman Parks In Handicap Spot
I’m sure that it isn’t an approved backing spot either. The union will defend him, but NO WAY will he get any lienency.
Union will defend him and get him off…that’s why you didn’t hear anything from management about taking action against the driver. The public can’t do squat about that! We’re duh govmint yo!
He doesn’t want him fired? This old coot has milked this 50 year old injury long enough.
I park wherever I want.
USPS does not pay taxes, tolls, or parking tickets. They are unfair competition to UPS and FED UP.
There is no excuse to stop, park, dropoff, or hesitate in that much needed spot.He was wrong and the ticket must be mailed to the USPS and I guarantee it won’t happen again.
That is the type of person mgmt. looks for. Rushing to do your job and illegally cause harm to a well deserving citizen not to mention a disable person. Please persuade this not to be a habit.
Could understand if they were there for over 20mins but they were probably there to load and go
Cops do it all the time never hear anything
He probably just a pick up and was going to leave , which wouldn’t take long. We do it all the time to get out of way in the parking lot cause people will run you over if not.
Some times you have to pull into a spot that is for other purposes, for just a few seconds. This guy should have apologized and moved the truck. Or asked the gentleman if he would mind waiting for a few seconds. Clearly the carrier handled it the wrong way. But also is this big news in this city? How did this make it to being on the news? It looks like to me that the news station was just looking to take a shoot at the P.O..
no excuse here…if u park in a handicapped spot you are a douche.
To blow of a DAV is a disgrace, this USPS worker should be shinning this guys shoes. Another future Postmaster
