USPS Introduces 6 month pilot test for Priority Mail Flat Rate Precious Cargo Boxes

The Postal Service™ is introducing three new Priority Mail Flat Rate Precious Cargo Boxes™ to allow customers to ship their valuable items (precious cargo) in a secure and reliable manner.

A pilot test beginning on September 1, 2016, will last for approximately six months. During the pilot, the boxes can only be purchased at the Postal Store® at https:??store.usps.com?store. Further availability will be determined after the pilot test is completed.

Customers using the new Priority Mail Flat Rate Precious Cargo Boxes will be charged Priority Mail Flat Rate® postage. However, the cost of the boxes will be an additional $6.99 for the small box, $12.99 for the medium box, and $15.99 for the large box.
