USPS Next Generation Delivery Vehicle Program Update

12/2/2020 – In 2016, the United States Postal Service began a multi-year research program, with select suppliers, to replace its aging fleet of right-hand drive Long Life Vehicles (LLV) with the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV), and is now nearing the end of the extensive process.

The COVID-19 pandemic previously resulted in the expected production award being pushed to the end of 2020. However, amid continuing COVID-19 concerns, and in order to provide for capital investment activities and required approvals, the program schedule has been revised and a decision is now planned for quarter 2 of fiscal year 2021 (January to March 2021).

  1. covid is just an excuse, the place is broke, there are no funds for this or any type of expenditure of this size. Dilly dally long enough, the remaining vendors will all drop out and they can pay even higher maintenance costs for the junkers we drive today. i tell you, this is the poorest run, most mismanaged outfit that exists. You can’t make this stuff up,
