From National League of Postmasters President Charley Mapa:
This afternoon, July 23, League President Charley Mapa was contacted by Bill Jones, HQ Labor Relations. Mr. Jones stated that, in response to the letter that his office had received from League and Napus, today the Postal Service had sent to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) their own letter recommending a VERA (early out) for Postmasters. For this process to go forward, OPM must approve the request.
Mr. Jones was careful to point out that even if OPM approves the request, the Postal Service may not choose to exercise the option of an early out for Postmasters. If approved, and if the Postal Service decides to offer the VERA to Postmasters, the VERA will occur over the next two years. The request sent to OPM would cover all Postmasters, levels 11 through 24.
As always, the League will stay on top of this issue and communicate any updates to you as soon as they become official.

1.1 billion lost i wonder why wasnt any more then that when we are paying millions on the such call window of operation hrs carriers are laughing all the way to the bank with there hand full of that money that they didnt earn becouse all of us are under such micromanaging from upper mgnt that no desicions can be made for the daily operations of any a/o its all uniform regardless of the diffrent need of each operation, yes 14 Millions$$$$ just on one distric on the Window of operations Grievance how many distric total? sure we have a big bill for our fuel but craft employees are driven beautifull suv no problems for the gas bill let the grievance money paid for it.
Mgmt. at all levels should do their best to keep the Service solvent for the sake of our customers and craft employees. Right now I do not see that happening above the Unit / A.O. level. Area & District level Mgmt. is mostly overhead and should be eliminated. Too many programs that cost more than they could ever save; and actually divert local Mgmt. attention away from moving the mail. Every employee should question redundant processes that purport to be about service, but are really about a score that effects Mgmt. compensation. In light of high fuel prices, all regular Mgmt. meetings should be via phone or internet. All executive level travel should be cancelled. If Marketing requires the involvement of all employees, then eliminate marketing as a corporate effort and save the $$$$$$.
This should have been implemented fifteen years ago in order to thin out the stooges that never touch the mail.
There has been days when the management clowns have screwed up their own schdule and as a result there would be no supervisor in the morning. Guess what happened. The carriers and clerks did job the way it’s supposed to be done…supervisor or not.
dud i thought they were already retired.
