Kentucky Rural Carrier killed by husband in apparent murder suicide

The remnants of caution tape, outside their home on the 100 block of Dogwood Drive, are the only sign of the horrible events that took place inside those walls. Police descended on the house Thursday night at about 9 p.m. after they say William Bays called 911 saying he has killed his wife Wendy Bays and was going to turn the gun on himself.  Police arrived to find 50-year-old William and 47-year-old Wendy shot to death.

Neighbors say the couple had lived at the home for about ten years until separating approximately six months ago.  We’re told William Bays moved out but Wendy Bays continued to live at the home with the couple’s adult son and daughter.  Despite the separation, neighbors tell us there were no obvious signs of animosity in the family.

The U.S. Postal service conforms Wendy had been an employee since 2000. The post master in Campbellsville where she worked says she was one of his best letter carriers.
