APWU: There Are No Discussions Underway with USPS For Early Outs

Early-Out Rumors

…. a fraudulent letter has been circulated among postal employees announcing that early retirement offers and “buyouts” will be made in 2008. No discussions are underway with postal management on early outs and/or incentives, and postal management has refuted the false information.

On several previous occasions, the Postal Service has made early-retirements offers in specific locations without engaging in the required negotiations with the union. Appropriate grievances and NLRB complaints are pending.

  1. I had to get a knee replacement at 56. I’m still recovering, though it is going well. But I know several people that have had trouble. I don’t know how my new knee would stand up if I had to be on my feet all day.

    Recovery is tedious and requires lots of attention to exercises etc. Loss of flexibility is a big concern. Right now I find it difficult even to sit with my leg in one position for an hour or so. It gets quite stiff. Paul http://www.totalkr.blogspot.com

    WORKERS ARE TREATED THOSE OCRS AND DBCS WOULD BE RIGHT UP HIS ALLEY THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT WAGE SLAVE MACHINES. WHEN YOU GET INJURED OR TOO OLD TO WORK THE MACHINE, THEY WILL TELL YOU TO GET LOST. THE UNION SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR EVER APPROVING THOSE MACHINES. BAD BACKS, BAD HIPS, BAD SHOULDERS ALL FROM WORKING THOSE MACHINES. MAYBE SOMEDAY WHEN THEY KICK YOU OUT THE DOOR THEY WILL THROW YOU A BOTTLE OF TYLENOLS OR ADVILS FOR YOUR PAIN.

I KNOW BROTHER, WE ARE ALL ONE ACCIDENT AWAY FROM BEING INJURED AND HAVING OUR JOBS TAKEN AWAY!MANAGEMENT HAS BEEN TRYING TO HAVE THE REGULAR WORK AGAINST THE ILL AND INJURED AND IT SEEMS FROM SOME OF THE RESPONSES THAT THEY HAVE SUCEEDED. WAKE UP POSTAL EMPLOYEES!!!!! CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN AND NEWSPAPERS AND GET TOGETHER BECAUSE ONE INJURY AND SEE YA WOULDNT WANT TO BE YA!!!! OUTA WORK SOON ALL OF US! JERSEY JIM

  7. the postal service has decided rather than to have early outs they will fire injured people no matter what the cause of the injury. One man was fired (told there was no more work for him) his only crime he had two knee replacement surguries, another co worker told to leave the building because she had a hip transplant and could not work on the dcbs machines. so for all you people who laughed because people were going to be fired for having fake injuries laughing and laughing I hope when you get older and they tell you you need a knee transplant and you can’t stand all day feeding mail to a machine and they kick your stupid asses out I hope I hear a loud cheer from around the country. Oh I forgot you are super human and your body will never betray you. You must be young because we know they are stupid, they think old age is for old people not them. I guess you’ll die young and leave a good looking corpse. Assholes
