Tropical Storm Isaac: The U.S. Postal Service continues monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac. USPS has implemented emergency plans in areas from the Florida panhandle to southern Louisiana. But conditions change quickly, and customers should check for updates as the storm moves northward.

Alabama: Orange Beach Post Office (36561) closed Aug. 28 for the day. It is scheduled to open for normal business hours Aug. 29, weather and conditions permitting.

Louisiana: Effective Aug. 30, 2012 at 12 p.m., all plants in Louisiana (Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans) will be open.

Mississippi:As of Aug. 30, 2012 at 9 a.m., the Gulfport Processing & Distribution Center has resumed service.

Mississippi: The Mississippi District has suspended delivery and retail operations in Gulfport (Post Offices with ZIP Codes beginning with 395) due to the hurricane. Delivery and retail services. Delivery, retail and mail processing services will resume when conditions permit

New Orleans, LA: The U.S. Postal Service has suspended delivery and retail operations due to Hurricane Isaac. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered at several locations. Post Offices with ZIP Codes beginning with 700, 701, 703, 704, 707 and 708 closed Wednesday Aug. 29. Mail processing plants in New Orleans and Baton Rouge also are closed. Operations are scheduled to resume Thursday, Aug. 30.

Postal employees in the affected areas should call the National Employee Emergency Hotline at 888-363-7462 for updated information. Employees also should call 866-666-5349, ONLY in case of a natural disaster which requires them to leave their home, city, or state to report their locations, physical conditions and contact information.
