Illinois Postal Worker Saves Man’s Life

O`FALLON, IL. KTVI – Kathy Stratton has been a mail carrier in O’Fallon, Illinois, for over 20 years. Thursday, August 23rd, marked the second time she has saved the life of a person on her mail route. Now, her coworkers are dubbing her a “superhero.”While delivering mail to a small trailer home neighborhood on her route in Shiloh, Illinois, Kathy Stratton noticed some subtle, yet disturbing signs.“A customer had left his mail in the box,” Strattin recalled, “which was unusual for him. He lives alone. His vehicle was home, and he wasn’t answering his door.”That customer was Glen Brandt, a retired mail carrier, himself, in his 60?s, who frequently said hello to Kathy. Glen’s absence that day with other warning signs like newspapers left on his doorstep prompted Kathy to call 9-1-1. That call happened just in time, according to Brandt’s landlord, George Portz.
