USPS approves plan to relocate Santa Cruz, CA post office

santacruzSANTA CRUZ, Calif. -Following community outcry over a decision to close a Santa Cruz post office, the U.S. Postal Service has approved a plan for relocation.

In January, it was announced that the Post Office at 120 Morrissey Boulevard would be closing and a Grocery Outlet would move into the space. The U.S.P.S. does not own the property and was unable to come to lease terms with the property owner.

That would leave the city with just one post office location, the main branch located downtown.

Now the postal service says it’s approved a proposed relocation of the East Santa Cruz Post Office to an undetermined location as close to the current facility as possible.

Postal Service officials say there will be no change in zio codes and the goal is to keep all Post Office box numbers the same. No implementation date has been determined yet.
