8/8/2018 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – In this week’s ‘You Ask, We Investigate’ report, KNWA’s Katelynn Zoellner spoke with USPS officials to find out why they have not replaced a local family’s mailbox after it was knocked down by one of their drivers over a year ago.
Greg Wilhelm and his family have lived at their home in Fayetteville for more than a decade. They hadn’t had any issues until August 1, 2017 when an USPS driver knocked down their mailbox.
Wilhelm said his security cameras captured what happened. The video shows the USPS driver delivering mail. As the man drives away, he knocks down the mailbox. You then see the man get out of the vehicle and pick it up. He gets back into the vehicle and drives away.
“At first it was kind of comical the way the guy went about doing it,” he said. “It did feel rude that the person would just come in, cause damage and then leave without giving us some sort of courtesy, explanation or notice.”
Wilhelm said he sent the video to USPS asking that his mailbox be fixed. This month marked one year since the incident happened and the mailbox is still broken.
