PostalReporter note: Jordan Small is the second Area VP to retire in just a little over  30 days.

Jordan Small, who has served as Eastern Area VP since 2011, will retire from USPS Nov. 2.

“Throughout his career, Jordan has been known as an innovator and a problem solver,” said PMG Pat Donahoe. The PMG added that Small’s attention to excellent customer service in all of his roles helped the Postal Service reach record high service performance levels this year. “This is especially true in his current position, where he is responsible for all postal operations in our third-largest are — encompassing six states and portions of four others.”

Small began his USPS career in 1979 as a distribution clerk in New York City. He also is a former district manager and senior plant manager.

In 2008, while serving as Delivery and Operations VP, he worked closely with the National Association of Letter Carriers to optimize the delivery network. Later, as Network Operations VP, Small led the transformation of Bulk Mail Centers into National Distribution Centers, improving efficiency and lowering transportation costs. In that role he testified before Congress on the financial challenges facing the Postal Service — including the steps such as rationalizing its networks to cut costs.

An announcement on a replacement for the Eastern Area VP position will be made at a later date.

 

USPS Western Area VP Retires Effective Oct. 1, 2012
