USPS revises Tweet on “Delivery can be as late as 10pm”

On May 23rd (Friday), a customer on Twitter asked USPS what is the latest time her package can be delivered. USPS responded by tweeting “delivery can be as late as 10pm.”

USPS public relations employee(s) responsible for managing the Twitter account must not know that posting or referencing “late night delivery” such as 10pm can set off a firestorm.

But yesterday PR staffers must have found out because this “tweet” was deleted:
usps tweet 10pm

and replaced with this tweet:

bor.ht8

It appears USPS was  trying to explain to  customer that her package may still be delivered  on Friday even though the regular letter carrier has finished his route for the day. However, receiving a package and/or regular mail at 10pm is still unacceptable.

But the most important part of this saga–package was delivered to customer on Friday.  Now it’s not exactly clear what time package was delivered due to customer referencing two different times. So, let’s just say the package was delivered between 6:45pm and 8pm.

  1. Well its happened in hunt station after rte inspections were done incorrectly by management. Carriers delivered at 1000 on numerous occasions.

  2. let’s face it post office management has never been too bright, the lights are on but nobody is home. management needs to start hiring college kids that have degree’s in management, logistics. management lives in the matrix they go by rules not logic, they just can’t do it. small stations across the country don’t need managers the carries, clerks and mail handlers can do it.
