A United States Postal Service tractor trailer flipped on top of an SUV Monday morning, injuring both people inside the SUV.

The accident happened on Cherry Hill Road at Calverton Boulevard in Silver Spring just before 3 a.m.

A man and woman inside the SUV had to be extricated. Both were transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries.
