Chico, CA police are looking for a man who dressed up as a letter carrier and stole mail from a local business.
From the police report:
TYPE OF INCIDENT: Theft of Mail
DATE/TIME OCCURRED: 1030 hours 02-24-16
SUSPECT: White male adult, 50-60 years in age, 5’10”, 190 lbs, dressed as a US postal carrier.
NARRATIVE: The suspect entered the office and collected the outgoing mail from the business. The suspect told the receptionist that he did not have any mail to drop off before walking out of the business. The receptionist believed it was odd that the business was not receiving any mail and the mail was being collected several hours earlier than normal by a mail carrier that she did not recognize. A few hours later the regular carrier arrived and the
receptionist confirmed the first carrier was not with the US Post Office.
This is the only report the Chico Police Department has received concerning this type of mail theft at this point. It is very possible other businesses in the area were also targeted.
Please contact the US Post Office and the Chico Police Department with any information regarding similar circumstances or suspicious subjects attempting to collect mail.
