Functions realigned to promote mailing growth
Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Nagisa Manabe has announced a restructured Marketing and Sales organization, focused to achieve growth in both the Postal Service and the overall mailing and shipping industry.
“USPS is a vital part of American commerce,” said Manabe. “Given our role delivering mail and parcels to every home and business in the United States, we have the unique ability to build growth platforms for both our organization and the larger mailing and shipping industry.”
Manabe says the new structure is built on the best practices of the private sector and is designed to improve strategic planning and execution, streamline activities and establish clear lines of responsibility. The new structure is as follows:
New Products and Innovation — Gary Reblin will serve as vice president, New Products and Innovation, a role that will include product development for Direct Mail and Periodicals, Emerging Technologies, New Business Opportunities, Product Integration, Shipping Products, Transaction and Correspondence Mail, Product Support, and Innovation.
Brand Marketing — Manabe announced the creation of a new marketing department, which will be led by an Executive Director of Brand Marketing. Dan Barrett, currently manager, New Business Opportunities, has agreed to serve as acting director in the short term. This new organization is responsible for marketing USPS products and services with a focus on Small Business, Shipping, Mail, Market Research, Retail and Digital Marketing, and Marketing Services.
Sales — Cliff Rucker will continue as vice president, Sales, overseeing functional roles and responsibilities that include Business Customer Intelligence, Field Sales Strategy and Contracts, National Business Alliances, National Operations Integration, National Sales, Sales Operations and Planning, National Strategic Accounts, and Customer Retention.
Channel Access — Kelly Sigmon will continue in her role as vice president, Channel Access. The group’s key focus will include Retail Alliances, Channel Management and Strategy, Retail Business Technology, and Retail Services.
Pricing — Jeff Williamson will continue as vice president, Pricing. This organization consists of Competitive Products Pricing; Pricing and Classification Service Center; Product Classification, Pricing; and, Pricing and Pricing Innovations.
Global Business — Giselle Valera will continue as vice president, Global Business, overseeing Global Business Solutions, Global Business Management, International Postal Affairs, International Strategy and Business Development Support, and Asia Pacific Relations.
Stamp Services and Corporate Licensing— Stamp Services and Corporate Licensing have been combined to leverage and drive opportunities for growth of stamps as the Postal Service’s most visible brand. Susan McGowan, currently senior manager of Public Relations and Promotions, will serve as director, Stamp Services and Corporate Licensing. The new organization consists of Stamp Fulfillment Services, Stamp Manufacturing, Stamp Products and Exhibitions, Stamp Development, and Corporate Licensing. In thanking Steve Kearney for his leadership of Stamp Services over the past two years, Manabe announced that Kearney is moving to Sales to lead the Customer Retention group.
“I’m very excited about our new organization structure,” said Manabe. “It is designed to sharpen our focus on the biggest profitable revenue generating opportunities, and place the highest priority on marketing our core businesses. Most of all, it is designed to accelerate outreach to our customers and the marketplace.”
