A Wisconsin Postmaster was indicted yesterday in federal court for allegedly stealing more than $50,000 in stamp proceeds while working at the Menomonie post office.
According to the US Attorney for the Western district of Wisconsin Robert J. Colaizy, 62, is charged with making a false entry in an account and record connected to his duties as an employee of the Postal Service.
The indictment alleges that on Jan. 15, 2014 Colaizy falsely inflated the number of stamps in inventory to conceal previous stamp sales and his theft of more than $50,000 in proceeds from those sales..
The Postmaster started his career with USPS in 1975.
If convicted, Colaizy faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.
Tip of the iceberg, fellows. If you think the little fish are the only ones stealing, you’re an idiot. From crooked contracting with mailers to VOMA and bonuses that are undeserved, the USPS is rife with corruption and desperately needs a large scale nationwide investigation into misappropriations, incompetence and other problems as part of the reform package. Start with Headquarters and Donohoe and let the .. run downhill. My guess is there are billions of dollars that have been lost, stolen and wasted in just the past few years.
We have an OIC who is absolutely worthless and depends on a 204-B with about two years experience to do her work for her, along with the supervisor of city carriers. She spends her time gossiping and making personal phone calls all day long. Is this not theft? What are upper level managers letting useless people stay in a management position for? Of course, it could be due to the fact that she isn’t bad looking, but that would suggest activities I’m sure they wouldn’t stoop to. That was a joke.
supervisors are unsupervised, 6 months in jail,5 years probation, fired, pay it back, give him a PDI and make him pivot the hell out of the post office.
