USPS: New commercial highlights improved service

Seven Postal Service employees from around the country recently got an on-the-job experience unlike any other — acting in a new USPS commercial to air nationally.

The commercial, which debuted this week and will be shown through the fall, was shot in central Texas. The South Congress Station Post Office in Austin is featured in the spot, along with rural and urban locales throughout the area.

In the ad, letter carriers deliver packages to customers who use smartphones to track their orders. The commercial highlights improved tracking and text notifications, expanded Sunday delivery and the Priority: You campaign.

To give the commercial a touch of authenticity, the Postal Service used real employees from Texas, California, Colorado, Tennessee and Utah.

Employees were also used last August in a Priority Mail commercial, along with a holiday commercial in December 2012 and another ad in February 2013.

The new commercial is slated to be shown several times during the next few days, including the Aug. 15 telecasts of NBC’s “Today” and History’s “American Pickers” and the Aug. 17 editions of Discovery’s “Shark Week: Zombie Sharks” and AMC’s “Breaking Bad.
