Video: Tennessee Mail Carrier Falls out of Truck, Truck Hits House

tnmc2014A mail carrier is recovering after falling out of her mail truck while delivering a package Wednesday afternoon.

This happened at about a quarter to noon in the 900 block of Wyndsor Drive in Hixson.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department says the woman was trying to put a package in a box. She had to unlatch her seat belt as she leaned out. She then fell out of the truck.

Driverless, the truck rolled down a hill and hit a house, causing damage to the garage. No one was hurt.

Authorities say they don’t plan to charge the unidentified mail carrier.

  1. I do see a promotion for this carrier in the future, 204B, front line supervisor, Postmaster, District Manager, and last but not least, the Postmaster General’s Job.

  2. Interesting. Sometimes you have to undo your seat belt to deliver. NDCBU’s are impossible to deliver with belts on. The damn things don’t give or retract properly, get stuck and the shoulder harness pops out of the buckle with almost no effort. The fault here would have been leaving the truck in gear. I hope this person doesn’t lose her job. If she’s relatively new, CCA’s are driven to the point of collapse, carry 10 hours or more a day with seldom a day off and are exhausted. Naturally, management in their ivory air conditioned towers too often do not consider this, being bloodthirsty and eager to discipline and remove, sometimes just to think they’re big shots and show craft who’s running (or is that ruining) the show.
It seems there is no tolerance for human error any more. Reliance on computers has made too many managers think of us as programmable robots who shouldn’t make mistakes. Sad.
