Biggest problem is contracting out-Matheson loads our airmail and Fedex flies almost all of it. STC sorts and loads all of our out-of-state surface mail and various contractors do the driving. Our 430-man USPS AMC has lost 375 positions, permanently. The remaining positions are due to be contracted out-4 months hence. Many jobs lost…very little fight from the union. New leadership that can win this battle is really needed.
No matter who’s in charge you continue to bitch and moan. Burrus gave a contract that we should be proud of. Compare it to the others. PTF conversions in 200 WY, Bereavement leave, reduction of our share of health benefits, NS days in 200 WY consecutive, OT restrictions, job duty restrictions on casuals, and much more. (COLA’s etc) Burrus walk proud. And I agree with Terry Finnerty for Health Plan Director. He’s the one we need.
Your best bet for new, experienced, aggresive leadership in the Western Region is Chuck Locke and Jimmie Waldon. Both have 20 years experience, and are only in their 40’s so they will be around and concerned. Dont let the appointed cronies sit on their duffs again after the election is over. lets get em out and get are Union on the right path! These guys are great unionist’s.
Elections..As much as I disagree with President Burrus on a LOT of issues…Voting for a WING NUT is ludacris! The man has zero ability to run a local never mind a national union. Have you read his stuff..The man has not met a mirror that he has not fallen in love with!! He thinks he’s great…so I guess we should too!??
Men like that are dangerous to our cause! I know we have a lot of DOPES who will vote for this guy because of their disdain for Burrus or disdain for their local President or their local steward or some other asinine reason, which shows how DUMB most of the uninformed rank and file members are…DUH!
As to Health Plan Director, the gig is up Kazor. The free ride is over. You golf…Rocky runs the health plan..end of story!
The one thing I’ve learned in 20 plus years of union work is that although national officers got into unionism for the right reasons (I hope) they are now out of touch, feel that they are “entitled” to their respective positions and after 10-15 years in DC they become GLUTTONS for all the money they can get, i.e.salary, retirement.
VOTE FOR TERRY FINNERTY, he’s one of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when I was a clerk and everyone hated Moe Biller.
Somehow the guy kept getting re-elected by a landslide every time.
Don’t get your hopes up. Burrus isn’t going anywhere.
Be very careful of all you are promised by our union. There are forces at work to replace postal workers with contract workers where ever possible. Clerks remember what happened to the FSM and Other newly created Mail handler jobs.
Look at the carrier craft contracts now. Be aware be very aware
Terry Finnerty is the best chance we have to
get some younger people involved. Terry will
be an excellent Health Plan Director for all
of APWU members. Terry was a Local President
for 8 years and an NBA for three years.
Come on Folks, let make a change together.
VOTE FOR TERRY FINNERTY. DIRECTOR HEALTH PLAN.
Burrus and all officers once retired from the service should step down at the end of their terms. These people on L Street have no concept of reality. Unopposed candidates just have the edge because no one can beat their coddling yes man ways..
The light at the end of the tunnel….YES….
be sure and hit the switch on your way out the door Burrus and all…
When the choice comes down to:
Do I wish to have the APWU Health Plan continuing to be shoved down my throat OR do I vote to throw Burrus’s ass out of Office?
Ans. Is Yea! to “bye-bye” Burrus.
Hope there is, at some point, an investigation as to what (if any) kickbacks were involved with this APWU Health Plan.
Wish Greg Bell was running for President.
Goodbye Burrus. Hope your new management job in DC pay well.
