11-21-2014 – On Friday Lisandra Colon, a rural carrier associate (RCA) in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico noticed smoke coming from the dashboard of her mail truck (LLV). She “tried to take letters and packages from the rear of the vehicle, but the entire vehicle suddenly was on fire, and the mail could not be removed. USPS spokesman said the RCA was finishing her route, so the amount of mail lost was minimal. The spokesman said customers of the affected areas will be notified. Fire officials said the fire was probably caused by a short circuit. USPS said they plan on investigating the matter.
