Mail truck goes up in flames in Belle Meade, TNNASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Belle Meade mail truck caught fire Wednesday, losing all of the contents inside.

A spokesperson for the Tennessee district of the United States Postal Service told News 2 the driver had just started his delivery route when he heard a pop and smelled smoke.

He immediately pulled over and the truck went up in flames moments later.

The driver was preparing to deliver mail to the 4000 and 5000 blocks of Harding Pike, which consists of mostly businesses, and the residential street Richfield Drive.

Customers who may have lost their mail were notified with a letter.

The contents inside the truck included first class letters, flats and a few packages.

The city recorder of Belle Meade also sent out letters to residents who usually pay their property taxes at the end of the month, advising them to send payment again.
