Police say carrier tells different story
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. A Kannapolis family is outraged after they said a postal carrier sprayed their 7-year-old daughter with mace.
It all started when 7-year-old MiKayla Davis walked outside to get the mail. She didn’t realize that her 8-month-old teacup Chihuahua/pug mix was right behind her.
Kannapolis police said that in a report filed Wednesday, the carrier tells a different story. He said MiKayla Davis was not near the dog when he sprayed the mace. Plus, the officer on scene said he didn’t notice any health problems with the young girl. They don’t anticipate charges.

Should not have sprayed. Should have punted it right back into the house.
When I carried 25 years ago a dog charged the door and got outside. I went to spray the dog and it’s owner got between us just as the wind started to blow. The owner got it in the face and she started hitting me. I left and never heard anything about it after that.
Bubub, I have been bitten several times and have probably walked many more miles than you. If you feel threatened by an 8 month old puppy of that size, your in the wrong line of work.
Bubub been bit twice by bigger dogs than that one. The carrier shouldn’t have sprayed it.
get bit, get a letter of warning
Warhorse, go out and get bit by a dog and then see how brave you are. After a dog bite, just a dog on TV can get your heartrate going. You know what they say: “Once bitten, twice shy”. Oh yeah, “walk a mile in my shoes”. “Judge not, lest ye be judged”. etc. I know carriers that are afraid of their own dogs for a few days after an incident. Maybe it’s time the trailer trash people in this country are required to pass a competency exam before being allowed an animal. Oh, there I go judging now!!!!
If the carrier felt threatened by that dog, it’s time to find another line of work.
There goes the twisted story telling media again.
