Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers, USPS reach agreement on pricing of worksharing discounts

The Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers (ANM) has notified the Commission that ANM and the Postal Service have reached an agreement on standards for governing the relative pricing of worksharing discounts for nonprofit versus commercial Standard Mail in future cases. ANM further represents that if the Commission were to adopt these standards, that this will satisfy ANM’s concerns in Docket Nos. ACR2012, R2013-1, and its petition for review of Docket No. R2013-1 in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. It expects to file this agreement with the Commission on March 13, 2013.

ANM and the Postal Service would like to have a face-to-face meeting with the Commission’s staff (and anyone else who would like to attend) to explain what they are proposing. The proposed standards are the result of a negotiated compromise between ANM and the Postal Service, and they would like to avoid having any misunderstandings about the standards leading to modifications that could cause either ANM or the Postal Service (or both) to withdraw from the settlement. Having a meeting this week is critical because the National Postal Forum in San Francisco runs from March 17-20, 2013, and ANM and the Postal Service hope to have these standards recognizd in the 2012 Annual Compliance Determination which is due on or about March 28, 2013

In response to this request, the Commission schedules a public conference for Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 2:30 P.M., in the hearing room of the Commission at 901 New York Avenue, NW, Washington D.C., for the purpose of clarifying the settlement to be submitted by ANM and the Postal Service.

  1. The union ain’t gonna like this if they can’t collect any revenue for themselves or file frivilous grievances against mailers! I asked about the APWU Officer Only Retirement fund at the last union meeting and was called out of order. I asked if my dues pay for this golden parachute that union officers only have, then why can’t I get some o dat too and they turned off my mic and I was thrown out. Democracy in action. Shine the light on injustice…just don’t shine it on me! Can anyone answer my question? Why doesn’t APWU have a retirement fund for it’s members put aside from dues like they do themselves?
