As a rural delivery carrier, I don’t understand how all the mail volume from Saturday will fit in my vehicle with Monday’s mail. Today was heavy as was last Sat. Whether it’s first, standard or priority ,mail is mail.Customers are stlll paying to have it delivered. Release usfrom 75 years of retirement funding and give us our money back! Give us proper tech equipment to deliver the service that America wants. Cut the fat from the top (non functional) and leave the worker bees alone!
Declining mail volumes dictate the necessity to eliminate 6 day delivery. Quality of the mail has decreased to the point of primarily advertisements away from 1st class. 30-40% of people do not even know that the Postal Service even deliver on Saturdays.(mail boxes full on Monday) Bottom line is that the carriers are driving around burning fuel that is not necessary, any checks delivered on Saturdays cannot be cashed or deposited until Mondays.
Most carriers support 5 day, it’s the self serving Union that realize with a trimmer more efficient Postal Service there will be fewer problems, fewer due paying employees and a less need for a over bloated Union thus reducing their excessive salaries and perks
No Saturday delivery will be definite plus for carriers. It will give a level playing field in that there will not have carriers leave circular mail for Saturday when they are off or call in sick. There will be no “deals” in getting Saturday off leaving a short staff. The whole system is so dysfunctional, from way to many non producing jobs who come up with screwed up ideas that cause nothing but trouble. Getting the mail delivered in a timely manner is not on the agenda. If upper management could do their job, keeping a full staff of carriers, clerks and mail handlers, making delivery points safe and effective, the system would work a lot better and employees, working employees, would be more effective. Oh yeah, take away leased vehicles from those who don’t need them. If upper management makes close to 100k per year, they can drive their own car. There are more examples of major waste, but let’s take this 1 step at a time.
one size does not fit all, some inner city routes are so boarded, crime off the charts.why should we expose ourselfs to this for six days a week. all government checks are direct now. junk mail is the norm in the hood, owner occupied rate is below 40%, rental people come and go. 5 days a week in the hood is fine, we will bring in people for weeked parcel delivery and certain accountable mail, take my word for it people that live in the inner city, don’t care or mind if they have no saturday delivery.
we want weekends off…that’s what the survey of carriers will show!
thats it take those shortcuts so Management can see… Douche
Yawn….
Looks like there’ll soon be some carrier openings where these carriers are…………….oopsy……….
