About two years ago, Avilla Erby, 60, told his son Jeremiah that his bucket list dream was to visit China and walk along the Great Wall.  Jeremiah recalled that it was the first time he could remember has father saying that he wanted something.

Avilla is the “sort of person who never wants anything,” said Jeremiah, who works in the global commodities division of JP Morgan.
