A little over a week ago WDIO-TV reported that an internal source said all mail from Duluth, Iron Ranger and the North Shore will no longer be sent down to St. Paul (Minnesota) to be processed. However, there are no other media sites reporting on this news. Update: From reader Sorry .big mistake made by Duluth management. Told carriers/clerks all mail for Duluth area, the range and north shore to stay and not be sent to the cities for processing. Oh, but wait. Higher ups told Duluth the next day, no, you never got permission (in other words, who do you think you are?). All mail is still sent to the cities .. a little hand slap for Duluth.
Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) — “People like their news in a timely fashion,” Benson said.
Benson’s papers, which are delivered by the US Postal Service, face delayed delivery times and pushed up deadlines which he says have cost him subscribers.
“The Floodwood Forum has always been a Thursday paper, but because we can’t get to the post office in time, it now has become a Friday paper and that affects not only our subscribers, but our advertisers,” he said.
Benson voiced his concerns about the changes made this spring to Representative Rick Nolan during a stop at the paper in May.
Nolan is leading a charge to stop what he calls “a plan doing away with overnight mail service.”
“We’re replacing overnight service with 3, 4, 5 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 day service. That’s not good for business,” Rep. Nolan said.
The US postal service says two days is the standard for First Class local mail to be delivered. Read more
