More proof that if you have a problem with the USPS or other government agencies, your best bet is to go straight to your local news media. In this case, the widow of a California postal worker got the US Postal Service to abandon its insane dont call 911 policy after it contributed to the death of her husband. And now, shes finally gotten the OWCP to pay her the death benefits shes entitled to- all thanks to a couple of minutes of damning video on the local TV station:
The federal Office of Workers Compensation approved an East Bay widows claim for death benefits one day after an NBC Bay Area investigation revealed her year-long battle for benefits following the death of her husband, Sam.
The government had twice denied Larnie Macasiebs petitions, but in a stunning reversal last week, the office approved her claim.
Winning this is something that I know Sam has something to do with, Macasieb said of her late husband. He knows because I always dream of him. He was very happy and he hugs me and he tells me I love you and I tell him I love you too.
Macasiebs husband died following a traumatic head injury he suffered during his shift at the Postal Processing and Distribution Center in West Oakland in August 2014.

looks like Saul called the TV Station! always lawyer up against these scum. apwu clerk union is worthless!
stupid Postal Service with stupid rules, so gald 4 this outcome, thanks to channel 4 news!!! Merry Christmas to the Family..xo
It is despicable, the way the Postal Service and some OWCP claims examiners treat injured employees or as is even worse in this case the injured employees surviving dependents. I’m am happy to see justice served.
and this evil federal government wants to take your 2nd amendment rights away……never going to happen!
ever hear of the word “common sense”……..oh yeah you are a democrat who drinks the kool-aid. learn to think for yourself…….it may just save your life.
Actually,4 most of my 31-years in a mail-processing;the instructions were 2 notify your supervisor of an on-the-job accident. And they would call 911. The problem was that if there wasn’t an immediate supervisor, there would be blank stares. We were never instructed clearly, even 2 look 4 any management personnel; outside our assigned work units.
The Thugs and Tools were exposed for the scum they are.
Great for the widow although you never want this to happen.
Most government agencies and private business operations don’t care about what is right or wrong, fair or unfair, they only care about what they can get away with! It is a shame that government and private business must be held accountable for their actions. The officials must be made to feel embarrassed, made to look like a fool! We all know some receive bonuses for their actions!
I am employed at the Dallas Network Distribution Center of Dallas, Texas. I have been asking why we need to notify security first instead of calling straight to 911 and all I get is a bunch of excuses that doesn’t justify taking away my First Admendment writes of speech. Since I’m 65 years old and participate in Safety at our facility, I have my doubts that management would call 911 for me and so I believe that this Postal 911 policy should be removed from all Postal Facilities and not only at the Oakland facility. Our sympathies to the Macasieb family and a big thumbs up.
