SAN ANTONIO– Post office employees are overwhelmed with the amount of vandalism calls coming in.

Tuesday morning KENS 5 was working on a story about the delay in replacing mailboxes, when a postal service employee showed up to do the repair.

Bob Vrana said three mailboxes vandalized in his neighborhood were being replaced on the far Northside. According to a U.S. postal service employee, the post office gets roughly 30 calls a day in San Antonio about mailbox vandalism

“They have replaced a better stronger unit that will make people happy,” he said.

Vrana said it took months to get one replaced, it was broken in July. Another two were hit in May. Vrana said they were hit a second time last week.

“For the people who the box has not been repaired they have to go to Encino,” Vrana said.

That’s about an 18-mile drive. Vrana said all 16 of the mailboxes can be controlled by a drop-in box. So whoever did this knew that and got access to more than 30 mailboxes.
