From Don Bradshaw

Many have asked if there is a way to donate money directly to postal employees affected by the tornado(es). (Some were affected by the tornado Sunday)

Yes, there is.

Make checks payable to:
The Human Relations Fund.

Mail to:
OKC Area Local APWU
1145 SW 74’th Building G
OKC OK 73139

100% of donations will be distributed to affected employees.
0% administrative cost.

In addition, the national union is meeting with “the parties” on distribution of PERF monies as well. (Postal Employees Relief Fund)

If any employee is a member of “UnionPlus” they can visit the following website for additional assistance. unionplus.org/disaster
The website will open with information about hurricane victims but should be updated very soon to include tornado victims in OK.

National Human Relations Director Sue Carney is “on it”, and more information will be made available as I receive it.

From David Miller

Here is the update on city letter carrers that I have right now:

Two NALC members have total home loss – nothing remains.

One NALC member has a home that will have to be rebuilt. Most of his belongings are inside the home but the home is not liveable.

Six NALC members have home damage but believe their home is repairable.

One NALC member lives in an apartment that suffered major damage. He is unsure about his personal property due to being evacuated but he had no roof when he was evacuated and its raining cats and dogs now. He is UNINSURED.

All postal employees working at Moore PO yesterday lost their personal vehicle.

15 postal vehicles were declared total losses, including 3 in which only the chassis remains – the body has yet to be found. 2 of those vehicles had mail inside.

The Moore PO has been declared a loss.

Postal officials looking at long term plan to possibly include leasing a facility in the Moore area. In the meantime, Moore residents will begin picking up their mail where delivery cannot be affected at the Penn 89 Station in OKC (9201 S. Penn, OKC, OK 73159). 4 trailers will be set up there for mail delivery.

Sadly, APWU clerk Rick Jones lost his life yesterday in the tornado. Please keep his family in your prayers.

I have more reports coming in.
