Covina CA police look for suspect who attacked postal worker, tried to burglarize home

1/18/17 COVINA — Covina police today sought public help to find a suspect who assaulted a U.S. Postal Service employee and tried to burglarize a residence.

Officers were sent to the 300 block of East Cypress Street about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a possible burglary and a person down at the location.

“The first officer on scene found a USPS mail carrier on the ground bleeding from a head wound (in) front of a residence,” according to a police statement. “The USPS employee was lying at the curb line next to his USPS truck, and was conscious. … He told officers he was struck before he knew he was under attack and he had no idea what he was struck with or by whom.”

The postal worker, whose name was withheld, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
