02/15/2017 – Career employees represented by the APWU will receive a 16 cent per hour cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective March 4, in accordance with the 2015-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement (Postal Support Employees are not eligible for cost-of-living increases, but they receive five general wage increases under the 2015-2018 contract). The increase is the result of an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI-W). The increase will appear in paychecks dated March 24 (Pay Period 06-2017), and will total $333.00 per year.
This is the second cost-of-living increase under the 2015-2018 contract.
APWU COLA benefits “underscore the importance of collective bargaining rights,” said President Mark Dimondstein. “It is because APWU members have joined together in a union, and negotiate together, that the contract includes COLA raises based on the CPI.”
The next COLA increase will be based on the July 2017 CPI-W and will be effective in September 2017. Additional COLAs will be based on the January 2018 and July 2018 CPI-W.
The cost-of-living adjustments are in addition to general wage increases.
Updated pay scales are available at www.apwu.org.
The only thing significant about it is that we got one.
$300 is what Diamomstein drops for lunch every day at one of the fancy restaurants on K Street in Washington, DC. he thinks $300 is significant to the “hoy paloy”……………..boy, do these socialists love keeping the serfs down on the farm after they have seen gay Paree.you want significant, go to the honda website and look at what a new 2017 honda civic with automatic transmission is going for……..$22,500…..now that’s my definition of the word significant with a base of $58,221. patrol cops on Long Island NY have a base of $142K, SGT’s $170K, Lt $190K & Capt’s $210K…..plus OT. guess $22.500 is not significant and $300 bucks is pocket change.
they pretend to pay us….we pretend to work.
You unskilled laborers are never satisfied… If you were able to learn a skilled craft you would make the kind of money you seek… Entitlement mentality is what will keep you getting the raises you deserve… Retire and get a real job if you want real pay…
What a laugh, Dimonstein the supporter of retirees paying more for health coverage because he wants to help the USPS out by switching them to Medicare from the FEHB program they retired under, and by the way this does not pertain to him and his bunch of assholes in Washington who will retire under the FEHB program not Medicare, thinks he just hit the jackpot by everyone getting about $30.00 a month. Don’t forget the Union dues will also go up which will reduce that ever further.
Are these unions serious? . $16 is significant? Well I guess compared to . $0 it is. What a joke. Thinking it may be time to get out and save myself the dues.
Better look out. Gov Walker talking with the Vice President. Are the unions backing Postal Reform just to stay around? Something to think about.
The title of this article says significant pay raise, 16 cents per hr. is not significant.
It “significant ” because last 3 COLA WHERE 1 cent and 0 & 0 . So 16 cents is HUGE 💰
Wait to Trump heres about this, there will be a investigation ordered by Orange man
This is the same union that is willing to sell out retiree’s by backing the mandate of medicare integration. Give me a break Al! It won’t be long before your president is giving away more of your benefits!!! You’ll probably end up paying a higher health benefit premium as the Postal Service looks to reduce their share of premium costs. The PO and your President will be reminding you just got a big COLA raise and that should help offset your increased monthly premium costs.
Yikes…16 cents/hour called “Significant”??? APWU calls $333 a year significant, yet President Dimondstein doesn’t think an extra $134 A MONTH FOR A RETIREE ISN’T SUCH A BIG DEAL WHILE ENDORSING THE MEDICARE MANDATION!!
Wow! I thought the previous apwu leadership was out of touch. I understand that colas are important and they do add up. However I cannot believe that anyone can call a half of 1% a significant raise.
I have not personally dealt with him but i question how anyone that calls a raise that is one half of one percent is providing intelligent dialog. Maybe that is intelligent political spin but it doesn’t seem like an intelligent statement.

My Brother I wholeheartedly support our leaders. President Dimondstein comes highly recommended and favored by his friends which are my friends.
My unreadiness consist of the information we receive can and will be laden with untruths designed to harm and or hurt Postal Retirees. Its in writing and we better be aware of all pitfalls and the hole diggers tricks. Please review past Postal Worker Magazines from 2010, 2011, 2012,2013, for inside information on why many positions on our issues changed from the earlier bills then, and now. I just need to know why we needed a change on such important legislation from then to now.
Even Congress changed their views based on published information, then and Now!
I stand open and ready for pertinent information of clarity.

Brothers and Sisters, NOW more than EVER , we must continue and be diligent in our fight to maintain our union rights, our contracted benefits and more importantly our ” WAY OF LIFE” !!! Our country was founded on a union, THE UNION OF STATES, and was also built and defended, time and time again , by union protected workers !!! Any attempt to dismantle, to dissolve, to dismiss or disrupt ANY UNIONS in our country, is an attempt to change our identity and who we are as a people and virtually an ATTACK ON US ALL !!! God bless all, keep the faith and keep the fight !! I personally met Mark at a state convention and he took over an hour to speak with me, a local shop steward !! I was never more inspired as a steward and I can assure you Mark ” HAS OUR BACKS ” !!! I’ve never felt more determined in our cause or more proud. Not only is he intelligent, well spoken, humble, and honest, but he was extremely approachable and carefully listened to ALL my concerns and EVEN addressed and corrected one of them shortly after !!! I was extremely impressed with his integrity and motivation !! He is truly the leader we needed at a very vulnerable, crucial time in our business.
