Postal worker on disability got $94,000, was in 35 motorcycle races

A former Dayton-area U.S. Postal Service worker is alleged to have participated in 35 motorcycle races during an 18-month period in which he was disabled or on light duty, according to federal court documents.

Jerry French was indicted last week in Dayton’s U.S. District Court on counts of making false, fictitious and fraudulent statements to medical personnel and the postal service which led to Office of Workers’ Compensation Benefits of $93,971.42.

French is at least the eighth area postal worker to be alleged of federal crimes in the past few years.

  1. management harassment at its finest! They’ll do anything to screw the craft out of their hard earned money

  2. There have always been criminals. Some people get away with their crimes; hopefully most do not. We are an imperfect society striving to do better and we punish those whose crimes we can prove in our imperfect courts. I find it repugnant that some of us can excuse crime because some people get away with their misdeeds. If that is acceptable, we may as well cash in civilization and revert to total lawlessness. Arthur’s comments above reflect class antagonism. Sad!

  3. Let’s not rush to judgement. Firstly, what was the person’s disability? How come it isn’t mentioned? Does riding a bike contradict his illness? In my opinion he will beat these bogus charges. Always hounding the workers but the Pentagon and the government can steal millions and billions and get away with it ,gimme a break 94,000 ? peanuts compared to the 600.00 toilet bowl seats the pentagon pays for in a past audit.Recently, a 31,000 piece of furniture by the head of HUD,Carson. Now you try to catch an employee who can ride a bike with his disability,SO WHAT?
