GOP lawmaker to introduce legislation to mandate picture of Trump, Pence at all post offices

Rep. Dan Donovan (R-N.Y.) is planning to introduce legislation that will mandate that post offices of the U.S. Postal Service display photos of the president and the vice president.

A draft of the legislation Donovan plans to introduce says it would require that official portraits of the president and vice president be displayed side-by-side.

CLEVELAND, OH - JULY 20: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stands with Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence and acknowledge the crowd on the third day of the Republican National Convention on July 20, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump received the number of votes needed to secure the party's nomination. An estimated 50,000 people are expected in Cleveland, including hundreds of protesters and members of the media. The four-day Republican National Convention kicked off on July 18. The proposal comes after a Staten Island resident alerted Donovan that a local post office put up photos of former President Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, but did not display photos of President Trump or Vice President Pence.

Donovan is facing a primary challenge from former Rep. Michael Grimm, who finished an eight-month prison sentence in 2016 for pleading guilty to tax fraud and famously once threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony.

  1. Legislation requiring the USPS to put the Orangeman and Silver Fox’s picture up is a higher priority to Donovan than repealing the ridiculous healthcare pre-fund mandate. And why are convicted felons and thugs like Grimm able to serve in Congress?

  2. Finally, something management and craft can agree on. This isn’t North Korea, we won’t have that imbecile plastered all over everything.

  3. Place The mug shot, oh I mean the photo of the leader if , and only if, Putin is siting in the President’s lap. And please show Pence pulling the cables.

  4. Shall we post pictures of the Representative kissing Donald’s ass, too? Oh, jeez – I do NOT want to see that. What’s next with these fascist Republicans? Giant Mao Tse-Tung and Joseph Stalin sized portraits hanging in every town square of Trump and Pence? The Postal Service really ought not to show any political favoritism at all. I’m glad I’m retired for a million reasons, one of which is campaign mailing season heating up.
I know it paid the salaries, we were just doing what we were paid to do, blah blah blah. But incumbent candidates do not pay a dime for their political mailings, and the postal law requires their flyers and propaganda be delivered the next business day after they arrive at an office. All other mail except first class has to be delayed if necessary so Joe Blow, your hard working Senator, U.S. Representative, state equivalents and other scoundrels can clutter up your mailbox with their spew.
Postal letter carriers are forbidden by law to actively campaign for a candidate in any election race, but they have to basically campaign anyway for those politicians, and that means helping candidates the carriers themselves do not support. Somehow I see something wrong with that picture.
Oh well. Some pictures: Trump looks like a cross between the Pillsbury Dough Boy with a terrible toupee and an Oompa Loompa, and Pence looks like a very ugly ferret.

  5. I would love to ask Rep. Donovan if every Post Office have to put Valdimir Putin’s picture up too?
