USPS offers new training course to Postmasters and Managers

USPS is offering a new training course to help Postmasters and customer service managers deliver exceptional service during every transaction.

The course, Providing Exceptional Customer Care (course number 10026877), is available through the Integrated Human Resources System, a new online learning portal.

The course explains how delivering great service can help USPS grow its business and features employees’ tips on resolving difficult issues.

The training uses common scenarios to demonstrate how working with other departments can help solve customers’ problems quickly and efficiently. Additional topics include being mindful of body language, communicating effectively with employees and developing quality customer responses.

“This training underscores the profound effect we have on customers’ lives every day,” said Consumer Advocate Ed Wohlganger. “Remember: We’re not just delivering envelopes and boxes. We’re putting life-saving medication, family heirlooms and anxiously awaited purchases into the hands of people who rely on us.”

The course is part of the Postal Service’s efforts to deliver excellent customer experiences and improve employee training, two core business strategies.

These efforts also include revitalized training for new retail associates and awareness campaigns that emphasize the importance of customer service.

  1. this is one reason we are going down the tubes (death by a thousand slashes) we have a dolt who now has the title “Business Development Specialist” who was a crummy 204B and worse stupidvisor, was a drop out in 10th grade and got a GED at 30 years old, but-drum roll, it has been said by many that she can suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch. case closed, the place is done put a fork in it. how do you develop business with a 10 grade education (she came around and asked “us” to go out and look for leads lol-we laughed in her face)…..would someone at UPS/FDX/AMZN or any other Fortune 500 company have that title with that level education………….be honest with yourself the place is on life support……Trump will pull the plug and rightly so! August 10th here we come! oh baby bring it on, bring it all down man! you can’t make this stuff up! IOD Meagan have another donut!

  2. Give em training to use the French fryer at McDonald’s..They would probably screw that up…When our beautiful president Trump’s commission finds out they get 85000 Grand to stare at a computer all day!!!It will be the end of the line..”YOU’RE FIRED!!”

  3. but they don’t have interaction with customers.most, like the one in Washington nc only leaves the office to use the bathroom or goes out to sell her antiques

  4. yep! retired from Mid-Island PD&C 117/119 March 31. 2018. now is a cross between slum of Calcutta and Rikers Island, Sr MDO has an IQ of about 70, mail delayed all the time, theft is rampant, APWU union is dead. the place has been run into the dirt. property building is on is worth about 50-75 million, my guess is will be sold off like Sears is doing. Post Office a shell of its former self. glad I am out of that house of horrors.

  5. No training for abusive managers that cost the Service $500,000,000, for greivance, EEO, MSPB etc. Imagine, and thats all you can do if manager got together to split a hair thin piece of brain?

  6. Since when are Postmasters & Customer Service Managers delivering exceptional service during every transaction??? I thought that was clerk work to deliver exceptional service during every transaction. Postmasters & Customer Service Managers don’t know how to do their own jobs correctly so let’s see if we can train them to further break the contract and do some more clerk work. Where is Dimondstein during all this. I thought Cliff (Goffy) Guffey was bad but this guy is even worse.

  7. too bad supervisors and postmasters dont handle customer transactions

  8. Doesn’t offering this course imply that none of the current PMs and managers are qualified to do their jobs? Doesn’t one get the training beforehand to become entitled to even put in for these positions?? The USPS kind of has it backwards doesn’t it???

  9. Step 1-Cut more window positions. Step 2-Have customers fill out surveys. Step 3-When customers complain about long wait times, go into the lobby and smile.

  10. Hello and good-day- this is all well and good (in other words-they have good intentions) but let’s look at it for what it really is: why not give them training on how to be more respectful to the employee? Why not train them to understand that the Payfornoperformance award is a divide between Mismanagement and Craft! What the PO does is nothing but surface-so it looks good-good intentions! But under the surface you have Mismanagement who for example comes in from another state -doesn’t even know the people that he,she or it is put in charge of and started to berate or yell at people because they where late- conditions and or circumstance may apply(without) investigating the problem-just go off without validation. Why not train Mismanagement in ways to benefit the service instead of undermine it. Why? Because they want that PayForNoPerfamance check-with their bullshit numbers that they push down people’s throats on a given day. So, when you think of training-think of what really is going on , instead of the bullshit lies that they show of people grinning and smiling to the public so it looks good. Good-day

  11. Are they serious? You have to start with a manager that has intelligence, honesty, compassion and dignity. Sadly, there are very few of those. Same goes for any that really care, other than for their own well being.

  12. what a fraud these low IQ dolts are. Medical Doctor has to have a license, Dentist has to have a license, Hospital Administrator has to have a license, Veterinarian has to have a license, Commerical Airline Pilot has to have a license, Engineer has to have a license, a Lawyer has to have a license, a Real Estate Broker has to have a license, a Stock Broker has to have a license, a Teacher has to have a license, a real Manager at a Fortune 500 Company has to have an MBA……….but at the Postal Circus you take a high school dropout bum, put a tie on them, pump their skull full of tripe……next thing you know they act like they went to the Harvard Business School……….want to know why they lost over $135 Billion since 2007 then read the aforementioned……legends in their own minds! can not make a silk purse out of a sow ear no matter how you scam it. BUYOUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. UPS $116 a share, FDX $253 a share, AMZN $1624 a share……Postal Circus $0.00……..keep training those dolt Bureaucrats to fail and stop calling them Managers, they are not Managers, that is private sector educated MBA’s……stupid, no college, low IQ, no business sense are called Bureaucrats.

    • You are so correct. I have two nieces, both 5-6 years removed from getting their MBAs. Both are considered managers. The postal frauds are as qualified as a box of Lucky Charms to br called managers.

  14. zero minus zero is still zero………..keep buying UPS/FDX/AMZN stock…..the true way to hedge this dump. give me my BUYOUT!

  15. It’s a shame USPS can’t train someone to be thoughtful, considerate and show empathy. All three of these things make a great customer service rep.

  16. Please!!!!! If the toolbags don’t know by now about
great customer service then they should all be fired.
Another example of stupidity starting at the top and wasted
time and money. Muffin of the day – poppy

  17. the training will not have anything to do with placing more clerks at the windows. Management likes the appearance of long lines of angry customers. Why schedule more clerks, use the funds to have more stupidvisors. someone must hug the coffee pot.

  18. You must be joking!! The management at the PO consists of HS dropouts and ass kissing Losers who could not hack it in the craft…that job sucks anyway 6 or 7 days a week 9-11 hr days no overtime boring as hell you can keep it.. I make 75000 a year working 5 days with maybe 3 hours a week overtime plenty of time to spend with my family… Who’s got the better job?

  19. When are they going to teach them how to treat carriers and clerks with some basic dignity and respect? I would settle for them doing their job and not blaming the carriers for all their shortcomings. Having put in 30 years I am quite confident that NASA and Microsoft will never come here recruiting from our crack management team.

  20. Maybe they should teach them how to act human and not treat employees like shit

  21. lmao! this is hillarious! after all these years of terrible customer service…not answering phone calls from customers. ignoring them, etc. now these incompetant clowns are all of a sudden gonna provide great customer service?…..roflmfao!!!!!!
