House GOP plan would cut Medicare, Social Security to pay for billionaires’ tax cuts

House Republicans released a budget proposal Tuesday that would balance in nine years — but only by making large cuts to entitlement programs, including Medicare and Social Security, that President Trump has vowed not to touch.

The House Budget Committee is aiming to pass the blueprint later this week, but that may be as far as it goes this midterm election year. It’s not clear that GOP leaders will put the document on the House floor for a vote, and even if it were to pass the House, the budget would have little impact on actual spending levels.

Nonetheless the budget serves as an expression of Republicans’ priorities at a time of rapidly rising deficits and debt. Although the nation’s growing indebtedness has been exacerbated by the GOP’s own policy decisions — including the new tax law, which most analyses say will add at least $1 trillion to the debt — Republicans on the Budget Committee said they felt a responsibility to put the nation on a sounder fiscal trajectory.

  1. Couldn’t help notice Mr.Fly On The Wall stated that he didn’t care what happens to anyone else. He only cares about himself. The modern America. just as Herbert Spencer once said ” Survival Of The Fittest”. The good news is, Soon it will be your turn. Nobody will care! You are just the type that has children, sends them to tax payer funded schools and expects the tax payer to pay for your children. You would never pay tuition, why should you. How long before you go down the drain? Don’t worry President Dump will throw you an anchor. He will help you sink!

  2. from GOING POSTAL to UNEMPLOYEED POSTAL in 20 years wow. Unions endorsed Sanders big mistake. I like that 40 thousand buyout idea, would leave tomorrow. our plant now resembles a third world country, dirt included. lazy people. pse’s now go on limited duty and know all the angles, older people running for the exit. sick/fmla through the roof-oldsters burning threw sick leave. diversity mismgt only juice numbers for bonus money and mail delayed or rerun until destroyed on a daily basis. last night this MDO mutt gave us mail 1 year old, sitting in a trailer in backyard? the place is falling apart and nothing is done except a diversity service talk every other day. union dopes running for level 16 jobs in back office. it’s nuts! it looks like they are destroying it on purpose. Yes a Buyout would be a mercy shot!

  3. I smell a HUGE BUYOUT coming !!!!!!!!!!! not from the corrupt, stupid PO Bureaucrats who ran the place into the dirt. not from the self-serving Company Unions who just want dues money to continue their scam. No not from them, but I see it coming from President Trump, the guy who raised the limit from 25K to 40K…….the guy who sees right through the corrupt postal circus…..pretty amazing for a guy who never had any real contact with the postal circus.oh I know he is a dummy, daddys money (Kennedys anyone), only a Billionaire, not as smart as a paotal slug living in a trailer park. he knows Amazon is ripping them off, wonder what he thinks about the 3rd class junk mail being sent for 7 cents and winding up in manual to be thrown because of “fake volume” barcodes. Yes, I am with Trump on this buyout thing and I do not care a wit about any other postal toad, a bunch of entitled crybaby losers who still live in the monopoly 1950’s era. its every man for himself and this way to the 40K egress! I am in with President Trump……..you have to be a fool to not know this place is done. how long would they last if they were kicked out of the government and had to stand on their own two feet against UPS, FDX, & AMZN……..you know damn well, that is why you are crying so loud. go file a grievance lol! its over, now it’s all about carving up the carcass! like a Broadway show nothing last forever. the golden goose has been destroyed by the diversity gang! no surprise there. let them go back to 7/11.

  4. When we get into the welfare/entitlement waters, it gets murky quick. Having delivered SSI checks to hundreds if not a couple thousand residents on my routes before retiring, it was not difficult to determine who was earning that assistance and who wasn’t. Many were single moms whose dirtbag husbands or boyfriends left them and little kids, and the women couldn’t afford day care and had to stay home because the little ones were just too young to be left alone. Some had real disabilities that were no fault of their own, and families might have severely disabled kids and even adults under their care. As we all know, healthcare is astronomical and my heart goes out to those who give so much of themselves raising and caring for the handicapped and disabled. They need all the help they can get.
But I also delivered to no damn good skanks who had arrest records longer than my arm. Many dealt drugs, and were oftentimes incredibly mean and abusive to spouses and kids. I saw it and heard it. These people were indeed cheating the system, and were getting SSI and disability checks when they weren’t in any worse shape than a lot of people who had worse health problems and worked anyway.
But when it comes to Social Security, the Republicans have no right to try to take them from anybody. Same with Medicare. As two posters here point out, we pay into those programs our whole working lives and we are entitled to every penny when it comes time to draw from them. It just shows how mean, criminal and hate filled the Republican Party is. They want it all. Period. They cannot gut the idea somebody might have an extra dime to themselves. They want that last dime, too. So greedy and pathologically perverse is their attitude that they can’t seem to understand that if they achieve their ultimate goal of destroying the middle class and creating a third world style country that they too will eventually go broke. You just cannot reason with a Republican that if the people have no buying power, the industries, banks and basic need businesses like furniture stores, car lots, grocery stores, clothing stores, etc. die.
And worse, millions of people struggling to make ends meet still keep these monsters in power because they only want to think about guns, racial hatred, intolerance and the Christian cult that has become a disgusting vile hate machine and is destroying any last remnants of that faith that are still about decency and loving their fellow man. People are more and more keeping their spiritual views to themselves because they do not wish to be associated with the Christian evangelical majority and its incestuous relationship with the Republicans and racist organizations. It all connects. And it blinds them to reality, thus making it easier for the GOP to put the screws to them.
I do not feel the Social Security system is in grave danger, but it’s disturbing enough that the Republicans have the nerve to try to plunder its reserves that clearly do not belong to them just so they can be that much richer.

  5. So what? I retired under civil service, I am now 59 years old. In three years I will be eligible for Social Security, yet I will only receive 30% of my entitlement. This has nothing to do with our current president. The previous president was supposed to do away with the Wynfall and women nation provisi so what? I retired under civil service, I am now 59 years old. In three years I will be eligible for Social Security, yet I will only receive 30% of my entitlement. This has nothing to do with our current president. The previous president was supposed to do away with the Windfall Elimination. That never happened.

  6. So long as U.S. stock values continually appreciate over time (averaging 10-percent,including dividends),fear NOT!! And,secondly there are continually large numbers of immigrants, across most America; who are younger-and produce more babies, than those, who are born, you’ll get your”entitlements”. Finally,if some home and land prices, continually rise(mostly on both coasts),you needn’t tremble. At least,if we go by what has, always occurred in the past? Actually,it is false, that we the people, prepay;the full costs of our”entitlements” And in recent decades, the United States Congress, has quietly raised income-taxes;at times of serious budget-deficits.

  7. Jeff, I’m with you. I use every opportunity to encourage everyone to use the terminology, “earned benefits” instead. I have even done it on Bernie Sanders’ page.

    • because the tax and spend Democrats stole all the money from the social securitytrust fund the last 50 years and since they emptied the fund, they now make up a new “fake news” name to fool you retards. stole the money and added 40 million criminal illegal aliens to the social security and Medicare rolls to suck it dry to make you dependant on them…….you have been played yet you still suck their root……..boy oh boy PT Barnum was right. oh the “rich” like Pelosi $400 million, Schumer $100 million, Feinstein $500 million (including husband Blum) Obammy & Mike $100 million, Kennedys $600 million.(every demonrat in the House and Senate are in the top 1% of wage earners) postal slug $1,647.00 guess your s@@t out of luck. wonder what the american auto workers thought when they pass postal plants and see rows of Honda’s, Nissan’s, Toyota’s, & Kia’s…..just wondering? oh me so special, I forgot!

  8. Remember in November. The Commander-In-Thief said he wouldn’t touch these programs…HA. for 50 years I paid into Social Security and repubs call it an entitlement? Medicare came out and I paid into that, like I had a choice.
Vote for your isues, the ones that AFFECT YOU.
Remember elections have consequences, e.g. Donald J. tRUMP

  9. Nothing wrong with cutting social programs for working Americans! Our great leader should only protect the rich, business, and gun huggers. It is only fare that the rich be able to hoard their wealth! They have an orgasm every time they think of their stash of cash. It just wouldn’t be right to make the rich part with their money. They worked very hard screwing employees and customers. They should be rewarded. It could be said the rich have found a way to take their money into the afterlife. They are able to enjoy their wealth in heaven, most likely hell!
