WOODLAND HILLS, CA (FOX 11) – The US Postal Service is talking about the hot weather and its policies for postal workers after a long-time postal carrier was found dead in her truck during the extreme heat in Woodland Hills Friday.
It didn’t matter if it was one of the hottest days of the year. Peggy Frank, a 28-year veteran with the U.S. Postal Service, was showing up to work.
“She loved what she did because she loved the people…I don’t think they realize what kind of job that it is….it is NOT an easy job,” said Frank’s sister, Lynn.
Neighbors like Robert Tipton say it’s especially tough in extreme heat.
“It was almost 120 degrees outside – when I came out it was just a wall of heat just hitting you,” said Tipton.

Too busy worring about whether we sit for over 7 minutes. Smart ass people.
If you allow management to steamroll over you then tragic things like this are bound to happen. First and foremost take care of yourself before you take care of the mail! Stand up for your dignity folks and stop blaming the union and management. Safety is on you and no supervisor that I know of will discipline you for being such!
What land of unicorns do you work in, that no supervisor would discipline, etc. ?
Seriously a air conditioner
I’m that vehicle could of saved
Her .
Seriously! A air conditioning
In that vehicle could of saved
Her.
Form PS-1767. 117 degrees without air conditioning.
Every employee has the right to voice an imminent safety concern, and refuse work regarded as likely to injure.
They should round up all management and sit their asses in a non- air conditioned 25 year old rust bucket LLV on a HOT day and see how just good us carriers have it! I bet this carriers schedule put her out on the street the hottest time of day, probably couldn’t even start casing until 9am and start delivering around 11am or 12pm. Thanks postal management for caring so damn much!!!
I retired about 10 years ago, I once got wrote up for wasting time because I had collapsed from the heat 106 and EMS tried to get me to go to the hospital, I wouldn’t so they made me take time to cool down. Then once for getting frost bite and taking time off to recover, it was -20 with a 10 mph wind that day!
I can just see the police, fire dept, EMT’s all around the truck…….looking as a dirt bag po mismanager is going for her badge to clock her off duty. you all know it is true, I have seen it many times in 38 years. make sure the family understands that dying on duty pays out double indemnity life insurance.
The Postal Service has always treated it’s employees like dirt. In2014 a Postal Clerk was injured at work in Oakland, Ca. He laid on the floor while management talked. Finally after twenty minutes management called EMS. The clerk died. The Department of labor twice denied the wife her death benefits. After an NBC station ran the story, she received the benefits she deserved. A carrier I believe near ST. Lewis called and told management he didn’t feel well. The day was very hot. Management told him keep going. He died. On a day we were sent out the temperature was twenty one degrees below zero. One of our carriers came down with frost the next day she was put up for removal. Unsafe work practice. Heaven is going to be filled with people from Postal management!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
I am truly sorry for her loss! May blessings be upon her family during this tragic time in their lives!
Sad. Management. Don’t. Care. 106. Texas Prayers. Retire. Nov.
If it’s 120 outside the inside of the LLV or whatever can easily be 140+ why is there no A/C in ALL postal trucks?OSHA will be out in force!!!
May she rest in peace. Hopefully something will be done about no A/C in the trucks. Drinking plenty of cold water just doesn’t do it.
Although dedicated employees are not appreciated by the usps, we. Her fellow carriers know what we go through, and tragically, we’ve lost one of our own. My condolences to all who loved her, rip
Shame on the union, and postal management. Another dead letter carrier under Fred Rolando ‘s watch, because Rolando with management created the worst working conditions in history causing letter carriers to get injured and die in the job. Fred Rolando ‘s response to us letter carriers is management is allowed to kill you on job by working you to death. Fred Rolando ‘s saying is that they(management) can do that. It is important to vote these scumbags out of office in 2018.
comment from union will be “they can do that”!
so tragic, respect your mail person!
And her supervisor was overheard saying………..”NEXT!”
GODS BLESSING BE WITH YOUR FAMILY…REST IN PEACE
I am so sorry, may God be with her family.
She gave her life for those she loved and served them with the top service .
I am very sorry for her loss to her family, and loved ones.
