USPS Offers Glamorous Perks To Recruit Carriers In San Francisco

Glamorous perks are not usually what you think of when it comes to the US Postal Service. Julie Watts tell us the USPS is offering them to lure new carriers in San Francisco.

The U.S. Postal Service is looking for city carrier assistants (CCA) to work in San Francisco city offices by offering free hiring workshops.  As a further incentive, applicants who attend the workshops will be provided six months of free vanpooling from Petaluma to San Francisco.

  1. Who the hell thinks this will work? Chain gangs get treated a lot better than this!!! What koolaid is management drinking? And they said the Titanic would never sink. Maybe the Postal Service is the only one still on the Too Big TO Fail list????

  2. what a joke…….Captains of 747’s have a glamorous job. postal workers have a montonous job that pays squat in the big cities. good God are these dummies dense.

  3. Kudos to USPS for their continued innovative and to management who continues to do its best while being shackled by Congress.

    • Here, here Guiding Light. These proven moral boosters will flood the employment needs. Nothing like sitting on a bus for an hour and a half each way after a 12 hour shift.

  4. housing or rent is a killer in SFO……all 3 unions screwed the workers on locality pay. that was it for me. pitting one union worker against another…disgusting!

  5. A perk would be giving new hires a ” cost of living and working in San Francisco” . . .

  6. HIRE MORE PEOPLE SO THAT EMPLOYEES CAN HAVE 8 HOUR DAYS AND OFF DAYS, IF THEY WISH. STOP THE BURN OUT OF EMPLOYEES.

  7. How about a territory COLA? in SF 15per hour won’t buy you squat!!! Thanks NALC

  8. Van pooling will never work, what will happen when you have different start times and different end times daily, and you still need a ride to get home. Are you going to make everyone wait til everyone is done, or just pay a FT employee OT to play uber driver for 1 person.

  9. Dear Postal Mismanagement;
You don’t have to provide “glamorous” perks. You just have to stop treating people like crap.

It really is that simple. No wonder you can’t comprehend it.

  10. in other words, no one wants to be a letter carrier in today’s climate of fracked up management at the postal service.

  11. Offering glamorous perks? As soon as the new carriers start management will load the servants up with several hours work and expect the carriers to be back on time. Perk # one. Then management will find a reason to discipline the carriers. Perk # two. Management will never treat the carriers with respect. Perk # three. And while management has retirement and health insurance, the new carriers won’t . Perk # four.

  12. What a city so open and welcoming but yet no affordable housing why ?
One reason is the leaders in the state of California make it impossible for builders to build with all there stupid requirements I wonder there is a housing shortage

  13. labor market is going to boom because of our great Republican President Trump-GDP is already at 4%…..not like the previous 8 years of stagnation under the Democrats. (Pelosi said your laid off, go to a park and paint pictures- dummies, while she added to her 400 million net worth. only one of rich 1% Democrats) Postal Circus will feel the effects of the shrinking labor pool first, treating people like crap and 90% quit rate within a year of hire will not stand….what a bunch of moronic dummies running this dump. the grass is greener on the other side of the postal circus.

    • I retired in 2015, just when Amazon was gaining a foothold inside the USPS……I worried because I was only 57 y/o……. Thank gawd I made that decision.. Sounds like it’s ten times worse than when I left……. USPS, wise up, treat workers with respect and dignity AND show them a DECENT starting wage for what the newbies have to put up with, then your turnover won’t be so dramatic.

  14. That’s not a perk.
    Like shuttlebus to prison.
    Run while you still can.
