Video shows mailman throwing package on porch

NORTH COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A North County woman said she’s at her breaking point after ongoing issues with deliveries sent from the United States Postal Service.

For months, Queeta Elam said her packages have arrived late, damaged or have come up missing. Elam said she’s called the Post Office multiple times and filed several complaints online but can’t get a clear answer.

“They just email me once a week saying they’re still looking for it, so that’s like unacceptable,” said Elam.

Elam estimates she’s lost $1,000 in missing or damaged packages. She reached her breaking point about a month ago and installed cameras on her front door. Surveillance video captured on Saturday shows a Post Office employee throwing her package onto her front porch.

“It just doesn’t make any sense, he just threw it like it was a piece of trash or something, I just don’t understand,” said Elam

  1. To Whom It May concern:

    Incompetent Leadership, No Accountability, etc….

Its not just the VA, Please” UNDERSTAND” this is a disaster happening in front of our eyes, and they just keep making it worse, how is it possible that in America, I can work for an employer who says, you worked too many hours, and I didn’t tell you to, so im gonna take back just enough time, that I don’t have to pay you penalty overtime.

  2. Carriers: when will it dawn on you everybody has a camera, smart phone or something like that and that you should not do dumb shit like this? Now it’s one thing if it’s clearly a book, a telephone book nobody asks for or seldom even use any more. But in this case, we don’t know what’s in the box and the carrier ought to know better.
And if her packages are coming up missing as much as she claims, and bear in mind I’ve had customers who never had a misdelivered piece of mail for years, but the first time you accidentally left it in the next box, according to them you’ve been the world’s worst forever.
But is it fair to blame missing parcels every time on the USPS? My city went through a rash of package thefts one Christmas season until a person was caught tailing the letter carrier and getting into a box that didn’t belong to them, and was arrested. Some people go through neighborhoods looking for packages on front porches. The thing is, some packages have “Leave if no response” instructions on them. I’ve left notices a time or two because there were some shady types who saw me attempting a parcel, and the customers were mad as hell. But had that package been stolen, well hell, you can’t win sometimes.
If you’re that worried about it, get a PO box or leave instructions to leave notices if you’re not there to receive packages.
And if a carrier is stealing them, throwing them or something else, then it’s up to management and maybe local police to catch them in the act of burglary or mishandling the parcel, in which case a supervisor should be watching if there are a lot of complaints coming from just one route and on the days a certain carrier is on the route. It’s called a pattern for you “Dragnet” fans.
But city letter carriers, and rurals should always be above that kind of behavior although many are not. If you can’t behave honestly and responsibly as a letter carrier you need to get the hell out. Good carriers don’t need you smearing their reputations.
