President Trump has been mum about the task-force report on the U.S. Postal Service he ordered in April and received last month, which J.P. Morgan analyst Brian Ossenbeck interprets as a sign that Trump wasn’t very happy with the outcome:
Trump had issued an executive order on the night of April 12, calling for an evaluation of the USPS’s finances, after some analysts, a former Postmaster General and some news-service reports said Trump’s claim that the USPS lost $1.50 on every package it delivered for Amazon was not accurate.
Ossenbeck pointed out that shortly after the U.S. Senate confirmed two nominations to the Postal Service’s board of governors, the House Oversight Committee asked for and obtained the Amazon, UPS and FedEx negotiated service agreements. He said a subsequent letter to Trump from committee members noted that Amazon’s rates are comparable with the rates charged to UPS and FedEx, and all contracts were renegotiated within the last year.
He got it half wrong.
“committee members noted that Amazon’s rates are comparable with the rates charged to UPS and FedEx”
That’s not a good thing. It’s a bad thing.
The post office’s rate for large packages SHOULDN’T be as good as UPS or Fed Ex because the USPS infrastructure is not set up to move large packages with as much efficiency as the other two.
The USPS infrastructure is targeted at small parcels, and moves them extremely efficiently. But the negotiated price with Amazon for large parcels is such that Amazon chooses to send quite a lot of large parcels USPS instead of UPS or Fed Ex.
How many dog food bag size parcels do you think can fit in a tiny little postal truck?
Alternative facts matter when the truth isn’t out there. Privatization is the EU model. So as long USA is getting away from globalization by repeating Europe’s path there’s a swamp at the bottom of the drained swamp.
Wait.
What?
Oh. Yeah.
The black guy isn’t …….
Hmmmm
Get back later
Southern hillbillies need feeding
Make Don great again
Love Donnie
Or maybe the report is being withheld until after the mid-term election because it recommends PRIVATIZING the Post Office and Republicans don’t want to give Democrats and Organized Labor that type of campaign issue.
Ask yourself this question: Who gets selected for these “Presidential Commissions?”
Answer: Political hacks who can be trusted to echo the party line.
Just look at the Warren Commision or name any commision that did not twist the “facts” in their report to support a pre-determined outcome. And look at where those who served on the Warren Commision later went on to do and what higher offices they went on to hold.
So why would those with political ambitions throw the sitting president who “commisioned” them under the bus. Answer: They wouldn’t and the fix is in.
That leaves us with the question of motivation for this article and what it seeks to achieve. Here are the two choices as I see them:
1) This article’s real intent is to make Trump look bad or stupid
2) This article is a distractive smokescreen intended to divert our attention from Trump’s real plan to privatize the Post Office after the November mid-term elections IF the Republicans can hold on to majority power in Congress.
As for making Trump look bad, he doesn’t need any help in that department. He does just fine by himself.
But Trump is dumb like a fox and I wouldn’t doubt if he commissioned this article to control the narrative of his Postal Commision.
I think Trump understands full well that the dumbest thing he could do as POTUS appears to his opposition to be smarter than he really is. Conversely…
Can’t wait for the rest of this report to leak out like everything else from the White House and we find out why Drump won’t release it, it’s obvious he didn’t like the way it came out,not supporting his claim that it’s a money drain and needs to be privatized.
typical bs……I saw a letter from a non-profit mailing with 10 cents postage…..80% discount off rack rate……………….Postal Circus loses Billions but there is no problem. more fake news from a swamp creature!
Pricing claims proved false???
What moron thinks that? No one thought that until Trump brought the issue to the forefront and then all the Lib Nazi’s rushed to defense of Amazon. Really??? I though all you morons were dead set against the 1% ers… Liberals are so confused they can’t even sort out their own agenda loyalties. The facts are what they are, Amazon pays far less than it costs to deliver their packages and the Post Office is forced to cater to their demands because lobbyists rule congress.
You are sad person, no one rushed to Amazon’s defense and it would not surprise me if trump intentionally did this to enhance the wealth of Amazon and its stockholders. I would bet Trump owns Amazon as well as Harley Davidson and other stocks. As long as AMAZoN continues to use the post office that;s great, however they are hiring for contractors to delivery their packages all across America. Congress needs to place a monopoly on packages with only the current mail delivery companies can remain.
Trump can barely read a letter, so what the hell does he care? He’s stupid, an egomaniac in business only for himself and his delusions of grandeur. And he’s been proven to be a pathological liar to the extent that Rudy Giuliani, who is about as loathsome and stupid as Trump, has had to make incredible claims like “truth isn’t truth”. You can’t expect a moron like Donald Trump to know about anything outside his own selfish interests, nor can you expect him to be truthful at any time. If you do, you are deserving of whatever screwing you get from him. Sad part is, those of us smart enough to know what a piece of shit he is have to suffer too, because so many dolts defend this skank no matter how stupid he gets.
Thanks for making life more difficult for everybody, Trump lovers.
As much as I can’t stand Trump, I don’t believe this headline. Amazon gives us parcels that wouldn’t be accepted at the window to mail because of size/weight. Make them pay what “Joe Citizen” would pay.
Some people sound more intelligent when they don’t talk!!
Or mb this was smoke and mirrors again like everything else when it comes to the Post Office, reform, postal bills, postal finance reports, ect. …… nothing will change. We aren’t broke. The pre funding has nothing to do with anything anymore. Volumes are down according to management, yet OT is given out like candy due to excessive volume and we deliver Amazon packages for dirt cheap…… did I miss anything?? 5 years from now and beyond I could write the same thing. Games, games, games
Why not help the world and send the President and Vice President to Mars on a nice fact finding mission? He could even open a Trump hotel and wait for future business! He doesn’t know how to run anything. He has spent six times in Bankruptcy court. They have managed his operations.
