Postal coalition and labor stakeholders collectively seek relief in 2020 appropriations
December 12, 2019 – On behalf of Postal Service business and labor stakeholders – who collectively generate $1.5 trillion in sales, and support more than 7 million private-sector jobs, and more than 600,000 Postal Service employees – we respectfully request language to repeal the mandate that the U.S. Postal Service prefund future retiree health benefits in any final fiscal year 2020 appropriations package.
Hopefully we will see an early out option in the near future for retireees. This will help eliminate liabilities
Why are the union’s wasting their time on this nonsense?.. Joey Corbett hasn’t written that 5 billion check in years, and he hasn’t the money to write it
anyway after squandering billions…..so it’s a moot point.
Pat Downahole, the former PMG stopped the payments after already paying $30 billion into it or else it couldn’t continue to operate. Now it’s only phony obligations the Republican privatizers use to make their tired argument for selling it off to Jeff Bezos or another carrier. Anyone who believes it hasn’t already been spent on other programs is living in fantasyland.
