Maintenance worker at Hamilton NJ mail center that survived anthrax attacks positive for COVID-19

HAMILTON — A maintenance worker at the sprawling postal plant off Route 130 that was an epicenter of the 9/11 anthrax attacks is positive for COVID-19, a source told The Trentonian.

The positive case was relayed in a letter sent Sunday to workers by Bill Lewis, president of the Trenton-area local American Postal Workers Union.

Lewis said management was awaiting confirmation about the positive COVID-19 case from health officials who would notify anyone in contact with the sickened maintenance worker.

Another worker, who wished to remain anonymous over fear of reprisals, alleged plant management was trying to keep the positive test hush-hush, saying he only learned about it from other union employees.

The worker reached out to health departments in Mercer and Burlington counties, and said they hadn’t been made aware of the positive COVID-19 case at the mail distribution center.

“It’s the anthrax sh*t show all over again with the type of management we have,” the worker said.
