USPS has memorialized the contributions of America’s industrial-era workers on a sheet of 12 new Forever stamps titled Made in America: Building a Nation.

The stamps, which feature black-and-white photographs of early 20th-century industrial workers, will be dedicated Thursday at the Department of Labor by PMG Pat Donahoe.

“The Postal Service is proud to honor the men and women who helped build this country with their own hands,” said Donahoe. “Let each stamp serve as a small reminder of the dedication, work ethic and sacrifices that make America great.”

Joining the PMG at the ceremony will be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor Tom Perez, Secretary-Treasurer of the AFL-CIO Elizabeth Shuler and other union leaders.

Each stamp features a different man or woman at work. They include: an airplane maker, textile worker, powerhouse mechanic, millinery apprentice, linotyper and a coal miner. Also featured are workers at the Empire State Building — a derrick worker, welder, laborer and riveters.

These commemorative First-Class Mail Forever stamps will be available Aug. 8 at usps.com/stamps, by calling 800-STAMP-24 (800-782-6724) and at Post Offices nationwide.

To help celebrate the new stamps, USPS has created a video that honors American workers. The video is available to employees using ACE computers.
