Downtown Milliken, CO, inundated with flood waters.
Operations at 15 Post Offices and mail delivery to more than 77,000 delivery addresses in Colorado have been affected by record rainfall and resulting flash floods.
Residents of Boulder and communities surrounding the city have lost more than 1,500 homes. Flooding has damaged an additional 17,000.
Since the weekend, mail delivery to many addresses has slowly resumed. As of Sept. 17, seven of the 15 Post Offices closed by the extreme weather had reopened. The number of addresses that couldn’t receive mail had been reduced to 7,000.
“Employees at every level have responded with professionalism and resiliency throughout this disaster,” said District Manager Selwyn Epperson. “It’s far from over, and the impact will last many months. But I’m confident we’ll be a part of bringing together communities when full mail delivery resumes.”
