NPMHU: Unfair Labor Practice Challenging USPS Lean Mail Processing Project Resolved

NPMHU_logoOn September 18, 2013 President Hegarty notified Local Presidents of an unfair labor practice filed by the NPMHU against the United Stated Postal Service. Specifically, the Union asserts that the USPS violated Sections 8(a)(1) and 8(a)(2) of the Act through the unlawful formation and domination of labor organizations in the form of so-called Lean Mail Processing Teams.

The Mail Handlers Union reported today:

The Unfair Labor Practice regarding the lean mail project has been resolved; see attached letter from the Manager, Contract Administration Department, T. J. Branch for additional details.

  1. See in the Mail Handlers Union there is one dues rate for all Mail Handlers. But if your from a office of less than 50 Mail Handlers your a “small” Mail Handler. Mail Handlers don’t get to vote for Stewards and if your a “small” Mail Handler you don’t get to vote or have any elected Officer at your Office. Hegarty is a hypocrite. Attacks Management for the same thing he endorses! lol What about them “small” dues paying Mail Handlers Hegarty?

  2. Perhaps NPMHU President John Hegarty forgot the ultimate betrayal when his predecessor Glenn Berrian and his side kick Marion Wright took away the Memberships Ratification Ballots and allowed the Arbitrator to roll in and Award the (entire) Contract, not just rule on a few minor points in dispute. The Net Result was that instead of getting negotiating Pay Increases for the 4 year life of the Contract, the Mail handler instead got annual “Lump Sum” Cash payments, aka, “Fools Gold”, that added nothing to their Pay Scale, Retirement benefits, or overtime pay, “FOREVER”. It too 2 DEcades for the Mailhanders pay at Level M4 to catch up with the APWU`s pay level of PS2. Ohh, how soon we forget.

  3. Right Hegarty, no MH should actually be productive more than 2 hours in every 10 hour shift as they are now.

  4. All of those not belonging to the union or think that making managaement follow the rules and contract should not be allowed to reap the benefits of what was negotiated and fought for.

I bet if this was allowed to happen and they had their pay reduced to minimum wage, no holidays, no sick leave, no retirement and especially no rights to challenge managements actions theses slugs and scabs would have no problem being union members just to save their selfish asses.
