Video: New Haven, CT letter carrier retires after 54 years

Hot dog, it’s Retirement Day! Letter Carrier Lloyd Seals, a 54- year employee with the Post Office in New Haven, CT, enjoys his final day on the job on Feb. 28, with David Mastroianni, the acting district manager. Seals, 75, who started on Valentine’s Day in 1960, began as a mail handler but spent the past 46 years as a letter carrier. He covered almost 2 million miles in service on a route that encompasses 700 deliveries. The New Haven Post Office celebrated his retirement recently with a small ceremony that was covered by local television news.

Seals is no man of leisure! He goes from the familiar postal long-life vehicle to another vehicle that will roam the neighborhoods of New Haven: Lloyd’s Hot Dog Truck. It expected that mustard and pickle relish will be his next priority delivery. Good luck and many thanks for a career with USPS!
