Regular mail delivery is taken for granted by most people, but now theres been a growing chorus of complaints from residential neighborhoods across the city to businesses in the Loop.
The CBS 2 investigators learned some of the mail mess has been caused by a huge turnover in staff, from managers to mail carriers, inadequate training and a customer service operation that seems to be unresponsive to complaints.
The way they distribute the mail is really embarrassing, said Richard Holtzman, the owner of a condo management company that depends on its mail to pay the customers bills.
Holtzman complained to CBS 2 that his business doesnt get any mail typically two days a week, which causes him to have to pay late fees.
2 Investigators: Complaints Growing Over Undelivered Mail
Chicago is terrible. These are the same problems that made headlines in 2006 & 7. I accompanied carriers that had fewer than 100 pd’s. Using 10+ hours, casing dps, & relays that were 1 or more hours late was, & probably still is, s.o.p. that district should be privatized today! In this case, service could only improve. Mgmt & labor are equally to blame.
just the tip of the iceberg, folks, it’s going to get a lot more worse before it gets better…..
What a shame!! The routes in Chicago are 350 deliveries, 400 TOPS!! And the carriers can’t get it done within an 8 hour timeframe. Talk about a district that is disfunctional, Chicago is unique to say the least.
100% blame for this is, as usual, on postal mgmt.
Unfortunately, the only people postal eas/mgmt hate more than USPS employees, are USPS customers.
Of course, also as usual, there will be no accountability.
