PSEs Urged Not to Participate
11/06/2015 – The American Postal Workers Union has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in response to the “Stay Survey,” in which the Postal Service asks newly hired non-career employees about their job satisfaction and the quality of their working conditions. The APWU is discouraging Postal Support Employees (PSEs) from participating.
Management is likely to use the results of the survey against union members in arbitration over the contract, Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon explained. The union also objects to the Postal Pulse survey, which is aimed at the entire workforce.
The NLRB has ruled that employers may not “‘attempt to erode a union’s bargaining position by engaging in a direct effort to determine employee sentiment rather than discuss such matters solely with the union.”
In addition, an employer cannot try “‘to determine for himself the degree of support or lack thereof,’ which exists for a position that it seeks to advance in negotiations with the employee bargaining representative.”
“The ‘Stay Survey,’ is a type of unlawful direct dealing. It undercuts the ability of the APWU to bargain for improvements to the working conditions of Postal Support Employees,” McKinnon said.
The APWU has requested that the NLRB seek injunctive relief in a federal court to prevent the Postal Service from going forward with the survey.
The upcoming contract will be the best negotiated contract in the free world
last contract Cliff Guffy gave away one of our COLA’s to PO Management, it would have been our biggest COLA in years, worth around $1,000 dollars give or take.(would have been rolled into base, TSP, retirement high 3 etc) APWU National is the worst. how come unions in USA that have half the membership (or less) can go out and hire a Washington DC top shelf labor law firm to handle negotiations and win big awards, but the A-PEE-U time and again tries to go up against PO hired labor lawyers with their high school educations. its like a high school football team trying to beat a pro NFL team…..its just insane and the piss poor result is always the same……s@@t! In my correct opinion this by design, just for show, a farce!

So when is the APWU and management going to move on to arbitration over the next contract, mid 2016?
funny the apwu claims po mismanagers eroding the position of the union? between burASS and the last contract with the fat pig Guffy and Morris erode could not get any worse….we have been scraping bottom since those three got their hands on the steering wheel. 1% raise per year for the last 30 years (and a few lump sums to even “ERODE” our 1% raise) compared to IAM, Teamsters etc this so called postal company union has always been a big joke. guess what is in store for us next year when the arb gets finished with us, you guessed it, more 1% as far as the eye can see. (you don’t think the arb will look at back history and laugh what the clowns settled for)
