Dimonstein took a non-existant Union in Greensboro and reformed it bottom-up into a Union management had to respect. He’s very politically savvy. His knowledge, experience, and perseverance will benefit us all. He came with a team – because he’s smart enough to know that Unity is our life blood. He was unavailable for comment? If you were out celebrating with your family (Hi Melissa), could anyone find you? Would you want them to? Tea Party? It totally amazes me how anyone capable of critical thinking can believe that ANY politician has them ANYWHERE in their agenda. They are their agenda. Democrats are simply available at cheaper rates.
Enderson, sorry…
Dennis Anderson, it’s not “membership ignorance and apathy” that ruined the “once great union”. Bill Burris jumping ship in the 11th hour of negotiations… Selling out because he didn’t want it anymore (just wanted to write in his journal 24/7 online with all kinds of advice).
Enter Goofy who along with Donuthole ushered in the PSE’s and subsequently the end of the Post Office.
The Union tying itself to Obuma who promised to be a “union supporter”…really…what evidence do we have of that???
Why hasn’t the union been adamant about the removal of Donuthole? (Answer: they can’t because they signed off on everything behind closed doors)
Sorry Dennis, the union’s demise is mostly spontaneous combustion, by leadership going to bed with postal hierarchy.
Unfortunately we all pay:(
Dennis Enderson-Cliff Goofy a great national president? what kind of crack have you been smoking and Kool-Aid have you been drinking? Goofy is nothing but a backstabbing Donawhore ass kisser and stooge who is a disgrace to real union leaders who fight to maintain their members hard earned rights!
I have always admired Michael P. Kaehler’s artistically frilly prose almost as much as I admire Vincent van Gogh’s paintings. In 2011, during the 2010 “Watershed” Tentative Agreement, Michael P. Kaehler railed against ratification, telling us it would be the end of the APWU.
Now it seems Michael P. Kaehler has entered that crazy period late in life that Van Gogh suffered after he cut off his own ear. It is especially sad and heartbreaking to see such a brilliant mind completely losing touch with reality. Michael, know that you and your sanity is in my prayers. Believe on Jesus and you will be saved!
I am happy that the ballots worked out this time to get most of those back stabbers out of power!! Mind you that there are also back stabbers in your own local who endorsed this new lousy contract. Yes, most members are apathetic because they mostly trust and don’t question their elected leaders but they better wake up and question them with what they are doing with their union funds and read and know their contract(s). Don’t leave it up to these fools who just sit on their butts and get exorbitant salaries (your union money)then further use your money for trips and parties and booze!! There must be more accountability!!!
Hurray for the new leadership!! Always good to have new blood just like in our congress!!
Hey Dennis, Guffey turned out to be a terrible president and terrible politician. His appearances on The Ed Show were frightening. It is funny that you would say that the winners are incompetent and dishonest. They haven’t even taken office yet. The cockiness of Morris and Guffey did not sit well with the membership as we had to deal with an agreement that was ratified and then changed.
correction…….that should read only sad liz powell was NOT kicked out. 195,000 ballots, 49,000 voted- 75/25
if you looked at the vote….25% voted, 75% just don’t care. goofy 30 hour full time work week and the giveawy of a $1000 COLA on people who have a $54,800 base was the last straw. morris made the comment “if it was up to me the pse’s would get all the overtime”-well morris shove that down your throat. only sad liz powell was kicked out……I worked at western nassau, ny 115 and she was a back stabbing whore who traded her kids into management by screwing the membership. if these people dont cut it….kick em out in 3 years. burrASS was just a 1% wonder-nothing else-good riddence on that clown.
Brother Kaehler,
Brother Guffey was a great national APWU president who turned out to be a terrible politician. I’ll take an honest, wise and creative leader over a group of inexperienced, incompetent, dishonest politicians any day of the week. Membership apathy and ignorance have damaged our once great union perhaps beyond repair. When the proverbial crap hits the fan and those who gleefully backed the new group start to realize that they are unable to deliver what they have so cynically promised, they might begin to realize what they have done. However, by then, it will probably be too late to do anything about it. Our once great leader, Mr. Burrus, has left a sad legacy, indeed.
We need to take stronger action and work together to stop Congressman Issa and meet him and the Tea Party head on. So far after 3 years little has been done. Now is the best time after The GOP has done little and only passed 9 bills in the last year. It’s time to attack. Let’s hit the Capital and let’s hit Issa with both feet, we can’t wait,. Let’s go to the Capital with bus loads of Union Worker’s not just Postal worker’s, but all Union’s. We don’t have to have just Union worker’s but their family and friend’s. We need to have a big March on the Capital. If not that a strike
The window service is the worst, with long lines to the door with only one clerk at lunch when most people want to mail during their lunch hour. We can;t keep letting these Mormons be in charge.
Most supervisors have not been trained on how to manage , much less on knowing about the privatize act , or how to get out of their chair and see what;s being done on any work day, I know I could go in a a private consulate on the NDC’s and come up with a better game plan than they have, and use less people,. They have not moved into the 21st Century, and never . After all they stil let mailer’s stil use string and rubber bands.
Hey Bobby, Bruce, Michael and LeRoy….how do you like that. The incumbents that gave us the 30 hour work week are gone as fast as they came. Michael, you flip flop more than a Republican who ran for President and lost. haha. Let us all give Mark and his team a chance.
Wait till you see what Guffey did to your health care plan to make the APWU health care plan cheaper.
Thank god APWU members have come to their senses and dumped these incompetent Donawhore stooges and now the other unions won’t be put in a weaker position by the APWU selling out when they go to arbitration on the next contract, and all of the Postal Service unions will have the same agenda.
Michael you speak like a true Limbaugh “ditto Head” youListen to others voice there errant opinions and then assume them to be gospel. But even more important, is your lack of voice or activity in the election process prior to the election. I am with Sid on this one sit down and shut up or go somewhere else and whine. Give the new people a chance.
I wish the new team well. They have not ran on anything except it’s not Guffey. When Mark achieved the highest office in our union, elected by the members to be APWU President . He was unavailable for comment. Really???!
These are some the hardest times for the APWU but more importantly for the survival of our country. Lets give this new administration time to make some long needed changes.I wish them all the best!
well bobby the brain Donaldson got it wrong again byby
looser please shut up you had your chance.
The headlines should be “TEA PARTY TAKES OVER APWU!”
Burrus got his “legacy” in his eyes there was not APWU before Burrus and he has made certain that there will be no APWU after Burrus.
The so-called “Members First Team” panders to the ignorance and fears of the members (and the general population) who have a great deal of difficulty with critical thinking and a union leadership who were ahead of the times in response to social, political and economic conditions that would have mandated postal privatization and the transfer of our work to the private sector much sooner than what we are or have been experiencing to day and the elimination of many more postal jobs than have been eliminated to day.
It is “interesting” that the APWU was notified by the USPS yesterday of their intent to allow Staples Office Supply to open full postal service retail services staffed by Staples employees in 185 stores and in 5 major markets. This would have happened 2 years ago had not the Guffey Administration not brokered 2010-2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement as they did.
If there was any failure on their part it was to properly communicate this to the general membership in a manner that they could understand and taking for granted that the general membership was capable of critical thinking and neglected the fact that they are ruled by fears and emotion as opposed to reason and fall victim to the last person who communicates to them and the tactics of “The big Lie.”
The Tea Party has taken over the APWU and the self-centered legacy of Bill Burrus as the be all and end all of the American Postal Workers Union has been realized at the expense of the bargaining unit both now and in the future because of this election.
And if you want to see who is to blame – look in your mirror.
