Dimondstein Scores Overwhelming Victory
His Team Wins Decisively
10/06/2016 – APWU President Mark Dimondstein scored an overwhelming victory on Oct. 6, winning re-election with 84 percent of the votes cast. Incumbent Executive Vice President Debby Szeredy won re-election, beating two opponents. Challenger Vance Zimmerman, who also ran on Dimondstein’s slate, won as Director of Industrial Relations. Unofficial results for all races are printed below. Winners are denoted with an asterisk; incumbent officers are denoted by “(I)” after their name. Certified results are expected in the next several days and will be posted at apwu.org. Results also will appear in the next issue of The American Postal Worker.
“I am deeply honored to be re-elected national union president by the members of the APWU,” Dimondstein said. “I greatly appreciate and am humbled by the tremendous show of support!
“I congratulate my teammates and all the winners as well as all the candidates who were willing to serve,” he added. “Now is the time for unity as we fight a hostile Congress, corporate privatizers, Wall Street greed and some in postal management who are bent on destroying the Postal Service – through piece-by-piece privatization and by degrading mail service.” see complete list of national officers

Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for incumbents
only 20% of the membership bothered to vote. now that is what I call voting with one’s feet as they run away from that crummy, insulting, 1% raise and one penny per hour UNCOLA increase. a dead person in the cemetery could have done better! once again a democrat in the white house did nothing for postal workers………..just come around every 4 years with their lies……not this year bucko! if these a-pee-u union clowns really cared about the workers they would hire professional labor relations negotiators to go up against Postal Mismanagement Lawyers, funny after 30 years its always just 1%-you think that is just an accident, or is giving themselves big raise’s and trips to Vegas an accident? doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the clinical definition of insanity. I don’t know about you…..but I am sick of it and have nothing to lose by voting for the other party. looks like 80% of membership agrees with me.
Can’t believe anyone voted for dimondstien after the crap contract he gave us. Duh!!!
Dimondstein did everything he could possibly do to get a fair contract for the members by going to arbitration which he has no control over his award.Would you rather have Cliff Goofy,Donablow’s pal and the worst union president in organized labor history as your president? this time it was the NRLCA who sold us down the river by agreeing to less than 1% raises which Goldberg awarded to the APWU and the other two postal unions will get, blame Jeanette Dwyer, the NRLCA’s president for the lousy contracts! We would be better off if the NRLCA went away and their was one stronger carrier union.
Keep up the excellent service to your members Mr. Dimondstein. If Mr. Donald Bankruptcy is elected President, you will really have to overcome the big business bastards! Time to force every other employer in America to pre fund their health care obligations! Then the Ratpublicans can piss and cry how every corporation is stuck with health care deficits! Push for single payer health care, kill the private wealth assurance co’s Oh I mean the health insurance co’s. Our citizens are forced to pay for sports stadiums, while people must plead for health care!
Congratulations to Dimondstein. Now if we could get as much fire and determination in the NALC leadership. Are you listening, NALC Executive Board?
No reason to dump Dimondstein and the Members Unity team, who have done a great job protecting the interests of the members, but very disturbing so many dumbwits voted for Greg Bell,a Guffey lackey as Executive VP, who was a horrible VP who is still proud of the “watershed” giveaway contract he helped negotiate and pushed on the gullible members in 2011.
rounding off the numbers….34,000 to 7000=41000! 200,000 clerks=little to no morale. corruption and status quo taking its toll in USA. will Diamondstein hold his rise to 1% and a penny an hour cola…..don’t hold your breath. meanwhile at the Phoenix Vets Hospital more service people dying from lack of care and govt clowns running it into the ground get bonus money-where else do we see that crap?…..ain’t gum-mint grand! how about just giving them a voucher to use at any hospital and sell the hospitals to the private sector like the Cleveland Clinic. and why not!
Congratulations to all the successful candidates. The job ahead is tedious and requires diligent leadership through this quagmire. We the members need our leaders to just tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may. Our members will continue to support the effort of our leaders when its Authentic in Nature. Please don’t confuse the members of APWU with the also ran, we deserve better than lip service. Peace and Love to All!
